cool.....only quarter of an hour from me....fancy showing me some time?? I think the oldest oak in the uk up until it went over a few weeks ago was the Pontfadog Oak A PRIVATE TREE...The Pontfadog Oak is one of the oldest oak trees in the world! It is said to be between 1,200-1,600 years old and may have been growing when the Romans were still in Britain! Permission to visit the tree can be requested via the Tree Council London. As of the 18th April 2013 the tree is entering a new phase of its existence...

Nests are very difficult to spot......just because numbers were down doesnt neccessarily mean that they were not there. We would regularly find old nests that were missed from previous years.
