  5. Hi Pete, yes the UA tickets are compulsary to work on the lines. A min of ua1 for groundsmen and ua2.3 for climbers. Once you got ua1 under your belt the others are fairly straight forward. Are you a climber?
  6. Not had much response to this so I would be interested to hear from any confident climbers who may be interested in training up for UA tickets? Thanks
  7. There's loads of jobs on arbjobs etc, most firms I know of seem to be picking up again a bit now apart from the obvious lull around Xmas. The main problem is there aren't that many people with the quals and experience to fill the jobs that are around. Those guys already have plenty of work. It's the ones with few quals or experience that are looking for the break. Get yourself the tickets that employers are wanting and the experience will come with time.
  8. I feed mine on either raw green tripe, raw mince beef or raw minced chicken carcass, mixed with a bit of meal and any veg peelings from the day before, in 25 years I've never had an illness in any of my dogs. Try landywoods if you want it delivering or I can give you a contact near j38 m1 where you can pick up. A lot cheaper than those bags of crap too and less dog eggs to pick up in kennel
  9. Still looking for people to fill these roles, to start around Feb time. Utility Arborists | Penistone Tree Services Ltd | Arbjobs.com find Arb jobs / Tree work

    Ratting

I used to do a lot of ratting with the terriers, used to get 100+ a week for years. Easiest way was to go round late in afternoon and block the holes up with feed bags, then wait till after dark about 9pm and go back with pack of terriers, flick the lights on and there would be several hundred rats all trying to get down the few holes they had unblocked, mad action for a few minutes before they were all gone. Ferrets will bolt rats if they are any good but can take a fair mauling. Smoking them out is fairly effective. Rodenators are illegal to use on live quarry in this country, not to mention being unsporting.
