  1. Anyone know the required spec of forestry guarding for tractors? Does it need to be certified? Was thinking of fabricating my self but not sure it would fulfill regulations? Cheers
  2. No what I meant was if all the dealers were competitive and moved with the times to keep their business current instead of moaning about more successful businesses and grassing them up stihl would never have had to put this stupid policy in place. Everyone would have bought local with the option of delivery or collection and everyone's a winner. Ok there might not have been as much profit per sale but there would have been more sales to make up for it, more parts sales and more repairs.
  3. I was going to say exactly the same thing, you beat me to it:laugh1:
  4. If all dealers offered an online service and they were all roughly around a similar price there would be no need for anyone not to buy local, with the convenience of getting it delivered and being able to drop it in for any repairs, the dealer gets his share of the market, everyone is happy.
  5. Cheers guys. Chris, I would imagine they're a bit wobbly on the 3pl but would mainly just be feeding a chipper occasionally and retrieving the odd stem from arb operations.
  6. Hi monkeybusiness, thanks for your reply, I was thinking of making a bracket on the forestry guarding to mount the spool block, going to fab the guarding myself so can make it to suit, I'll get some pics when it's all sorted
  7. Cheers Brushcutter, I'm thinking between a botex 360 and the kts, want something where the crane will 3pl mount so I can use it on back of tractor and go feed chipper when needed, don't suppose you know how the two compare with regards to switching the crane over?
  8. Any one have any experience and opinions of them? Cheers
  9. That must be why i didn't understand him
  10. On the look out for one if anyone knows of one? Cheers
  11. It's not so much about sticking to the rules dictated by Stihl that people are annoyed about but him boasting about posing as a customer and grassing people up, the man is clearly a pr*ck
  12. It seems some of the stihl dealership share the same arrogance as the stihl brand. That'll be another nail in the coffin.

    the RSPCA!!!!

Arsepca are the biggest bunch of crooks about, give them nothing. If you care about animals there's plenty of good charities out there, the rspca are not one of them
  14. Yes you're right Paul. TO here would usually insist that work is carried out to bs3998 unless under special circumstances, not to say the TO there does the same there,or if there are circumstances we dont know about. Does seem a tad odd tho.
  15. According to bs3998 only trees upto 200mm at a height of 3m should be pollarded. So how can anything over that be classed as a pollard unless it is re-pollarding? 7.10 Pollarding If pollarding is to be carried out, it should preferably start soon after the tree has become established and is between 25 mm to 50 mm in diameter at the selected height of pollarding (often 2 m to 3 m). The initial pollarding cut should be made at a height which reflects site usage but which, if possible, allows some of the pre-existing foliage to be retained, in order to maintain physiological function and thus reduce the probability of dieback or death. If the tree divides into a number of stems or branches below a height of 3 m, these should be individually cut so as to initiate a “candelabra” framework. If the stem has attained a diameter of more than 50 mm, but less than about 200 mm at 2 m to 3 m height, pollarding may still be initiated. The tree should be cut at or near the same height as a younger tree, but extra care should be taken to retain some existing branches. Larger trees should not normally be treated in this way (see Annex C for severe cutting for special purposes).
  16. In the past I've always bought stihl, in the future I'll always buy husqy

  20. I know someone in hillsboro, I'll send u his num in a bit I'm just nipping out
  21. Yes it's bad, if your dogs chases a rabbit and kills it that's ok, but if it chased a squirrel and it gets away you're breaking the law
  22. Rabbits and rats are exempt from the hunting act, terrier work is still legal but can only use one terrier to ground and fox has to be dispatched with a firearm
  23. And rightly so, I work terriers, but dickheads like that are the reason hunting with dogs was banned, shame they spoiled it for the rest of us
  24. That's a nice stamp of dog, what line is it? Looks like a bit of wheeler blood or g jones?
