    ms150 t carburetor

When i spoke on the phone today he said that they have had loads of these saws come in with the same problems, and they try to clean up the carbs but this doesnt fix it as they cannot get it clean enough. Added to that the time they spend doing it works in labour costs out similar to replacing the carb. I sent it in as it had a cracked handle aswell ( the mystery damage that nobody had a clue as to how it happened!) and i got to say i was very surprised when they came back saying it needed a new carb. Spark plug i can understand but a new carb? I love the light weight saw but ive never thought its run right tbh, wouldnt be surprised if this is a way of they ironing out a poor design using joe public to test and fix at our ouw cost. i will definitely get them to give me the carb that comes out as i want to have a look myself. Thanks for your input guys
  4. Mine was running very poor, use it for 10 mins and it would just die and only start again a while later. Dropped it off at Lister wilder to sort out and they have just told me it needs a new carb. This saw has hardly had much use, is just over a yr old. They tell me its all the ethonol in the petrol corrodes the aluminum in the carb hence needing to replace it. Anybody else have this? Strikes me as more poor showing from sthil if parts that cost nearly a quarter of the whole saw dont last the yr! Not sure id Aspen prevents this or not. Thought welcome please. Cheers
  5. My brother and i did tough mudder a while back. We too are a pair of tree surgeons with our own family bussiness. It was a blast tbh. enjoy!
  6. Looks good. Very tempting! thanks for the pics. Are you happy with it?
  7. yes pics please! this is the kind of thing im interested in come the new yr. if u dont mind a rough idea on price would be great too, pm if u rather keep it private.
  8. 3rd as is 03 of december? how do u afford to live? im self employed but still have bills etc to pay.
  9. Just like any other day. Hedges saying that i treated the guys to a KFC. Must be xmas!
  10. tothby1 be interested to see this. Is it coming from the factory as a tipper? be interested in the specs etc or a link to a website Cheers
  11. sure i saw those icon trucks on tv this yr, came in at something like 80k or some huge amount. look very cool though
  12. Jeep commander 7 seats, comfy as hell. Pulls like a trooper. Only negative is been a 3.0V6 it does like the diesel. but it will shift if u put the pedal down or u could go for the 5.7v8 now that petrol is going down in costs.
  13. Personally i would go the ms200T route. ive bought 2 x 201 T in the last yr. To put it politely they are a pile of S##T! never run nice from day one. always chokey regardless of tuning. Eat spark plugs! no joke if u buy them buy 2 spare per saw, u will need them soon enough. so stars playing up then just dies and refuses to start again until a new plug is put in. Never in 10 yrs did i ever change a plug on the 200t. not used a T540 but hear they r easy to break. got a 150 as well, love it when i runs nice but always seems like the choke is on a bit. Been meaning to drill the exhaust on it, just waiting for the warranty to run out. Its not for take downs but great for thins and reductions etc. Biggest thing though is its light. after using it a 201 feels so heavy! any body got advice for the 201 i would love to hear it as i hate them at the moment, feel like sthil have really dropped the ball on this saw.
  14. The chipper works fine, can't blame it because he started chipping exactly as it should! Just should have checked first! Glad a few of u have responded about the lids, a friend has brought over both the husky and the stein. Got to say the stein feels more comfy but heavier. That's said if it's a lot hotter ( let's face it this can be a hot job) plus if it gets stinky then I may give it a miss. Not had a chance to try a vertex vent ( looks good in black). So looks like a husky technical or another protos. £80 vs £189. Ummm
  15. Lol funny thing that.... No really he's a good lad but wished looked! Best part of £200 for that lid! Not sure if I think it's worth the money tbh. I'll try one of the above and then I guess I'll know. It was good but then again my old £40 standard husky lid went on forever and never gave me any trouble.
  16. Right or wrong we have always transported our lids in our chipper hopper. There's always 4 in there, everyday. So last job one the guys got them out, bar mine. I was making a phone call ( tiny job so not enough for 2 men let alone 4!). So groundie starts chipping away, I come over , where's my lid? No one knows . Mystery! Until we come to tip off and there it is/ was! Somehow he didn't see it, says it's not him. Managed to see and remove he other lids though. I'm impressed it actually got through the rollers as it's pretty wide! But otherwise not impressed. Now due to needing a lid ASAP ie tomorrow I have to choose from either a stein plasma or a husky technical.
  17. It was a head to head today. Winner is:
  18. Hey! Jeep commander! pee all over most things for comfort Towed my work truck, if it wasnt for wing mirrors u would think it wasnt towing. Highly rated off road only thing honset john moaned about was the size of the rear seats ( got 7 seats). Kids love it ( built in tv, seperate sun roofs).
  19. I had a demo from dean at global, cracking machine and a very nice guy. Nothing was too much effort or trouble. Personally i found it a bit large and didnt get on with it ( used to my predator 450). Otherwise i would have got one. it does shrink down to 25" but dont be fooled, this is a large machine thats very well built. the 450 is a good machine, replaced by the 460 which should be just as good but it seems that the dealers wont do demos as there is not any money in them ??? funny that, would have thought it was worth it to sell a 6K +VAT machine.
  20. Yes it is mad, if you speak to the wood burning stove fitters they are flat out all year round so there r burners going in all the time yet i can give it away! Doesnt make sense. I will try some of the biomass companies to see if they want it but im not holding my breath. Thanks for the replys though guys
  21. I do heat my house with a log burner which can use a good amount but never going to keep up with a day to day tree team. the roro sounds like a possibility, will look into that aswell. Cheers
  22. yes its a constant pain in the rear. ive often thought about one of those chippers that have a shredder the is built into the side. chip the bigger stuff and shredd the rakings. not sure what the model is, only remember its green and white. would like a shredder but from what i gather they are not really worth it if your work is tree related, ie not any fence panels or pallets etc. i remember seeing the timberwolf demo vid for the 24osx ( i think thats the model). seriously slow! but if im wrong someone please correct me. A small shredder would be nice but normally the small machines are pants. thats my 2 p anyhow
  23. I have an ad on gum tree which has generated a few emails and hopefull turn into a few loads but noway near satisfiying a day to day bussiness. I use one green waste disposal yard where i pay by the truck but they are also suffering at the moment. They are having trouble shifting the chippings and compost ( ground up green waste) them selves. Cant see them taking it for free! I may hit the phones again to see if any other local firewood guys want it but you know how it is everybody ( clients) have this thing about softwood. It has to be oak beech or nothing it seems! Ive even had a fair few say they only interested in dead oak or beech. Needless to say they didnt get anything. hell ill keep that for myself Ive seen a company called Kingswell so i will give them a call tomorrow i think to see what they charge. yes im in bracknell, berkshire area. Cheers
  24. Hi All. I am finding it harder to get rid of all my waste these days. I have been thinking of hiring in air burner to get rid of the timber that i cant seem to give away! I have a contact taking the hardwood but day to day i get a lot of softwood. I know they dont burn chippings so thats another problem. i know many of you on here state that you sell it all (logs and chips) and make at the least beer money but i cant give the stuff away! So i was wondering just roughly what it cost to hire a air burner for the day (not sure if there is a minimum amount of time). I have access to the space to site it for the burning process and access to a loader to load it up. i run a small tree team so i am thinking it would be needed once every 6 months or so. On a side note i read about another member on here hiring in a 40 roll on off container. roughly how many transit size loads would that equate to? Anybody else have any pointers would be greatly appreciated I am based in berkshire. many thanks Jose
  25. i had a 130 tipper. Put uprated shocks and springs on it as it was terrible. Was fine after that. Could hold loads ( though it did have a transit body fitted). Only thing wrong is it broke down EVERY damn month. had to get rid of it as couldnt justify the expense. Next guy along near as damn it had a new truck. The transit i had had 1 £20 pipe go on it. Nothing else. Prob why the local gypsies nicked it a year later!
