  1. Right or wrong we have always transported our lids in our chipper hopper. There's always 4 in there, everyday. So last job one the guys got them out, bar mine. I was making a phone call ( tiny job so not enough for 2 men let alone 4!). So groundie starts chipping away, I come over , where's my lid? No one knows . Mystery! Until we come to tip off and there it is/ was! Somehow he didn't see it, says it's not him. Managed to see and remove he other lids though. I'm impressed it actually got through the rollers as it's pretty wide! But otherwise not impressed. Now due to needing a lid ASAP ie tomorrow I have to choose from either a stein plasma or a husky technical.
  2. It was a head to head today. Winner is:
  3. Hey! Jeep commander! pee all over most things for comfort Towed my work truck, if it wasnt for wing mirrors u would think it wasnt towing. Highly rated off road only thing honset john moaned about was the size of the rear seats ( got 7 seats). Kids love it ( built in tv, seperate sun roofs).
  4. I had a demo from dean at global, cracking machine and a very nice guy. Nothing was too much effort or trouble. Personally i found it a bit large and didnt get on with it ( used to my predator 450). Otherwise i would have got one. it does shrink down to 25" but dont be fooled, this is a large machine thats very well built. the 450 is a good machine, replaced by the 460 which should be just as good but it seems that the dealers wont do demos as there is not any money in them ??? funny that, would have thought it was worth it to sell a 6K +VAT machine.
  5. Yes it is mad, if you speak to the wood burning stove fitters they are flat out all year round so there r burners going in all the time yet i can give it away! Doesnt make sense. I will try some of the biomass companies to see if they want it but im not holding my breath. Thanks for the replys though guys
  6. I do heat my house with a log burner which can use a good amount but never going to keep up with a day to day tree team. the roro sounds like a possibility, will look into that aswell. Cheers
  7. yes its a constant pain in the rear. ive often thought about one of those chippers that have a shredder the is built into the side. chip the bigger stuff and shredd the rakings. not sure what the model is, only remember its green and white. would like a shredder but from what i gather they are not really worth it if your work is tree related, ie not any fence panels or pallets etc. i remember seeing the timberwolf demo vid for the 24osx ( i think thats the model). seriously slow! but if im wrong someone please correct me. A small shredder would be nice but normally the small machines are pants. thats my 2 p anyhow
  8. I have an ad on gum tree which has generated a few emails and hopefull turn into a few loads but noway near satisfiying a day to day bussiness. I use one green waste disposal yard where i pay by the truck but they are also suffering at the moment. They are having trouble shifting the chippings and compost ( ground up green waste) them selves. Cant see them taking it for free! I may hit the phones again to see if any other local firewood guys want it but you know how it is everybody ( clients) have this thing about softwood. It has to be oak beech or nothing it seems! Ive even had a fair few say they only interested in dead oak or beech. Needless to say they didnt get anything. hell ill keep that for myself Ive seen a company called Kingswell so i will give them a call tomorrow i think to see what they charge. yes im in bracknell, berkshire area. Cheers
  9. Hi All. I am finding it harder to get rid of all my waste these days. I have been thinking of hiring in air burner to get rid of the timber that i cant seem to give away! I have a contact taking the hardwood but day to day i get a lot of softwood. I know they dont burn chippings so thats another problem. i know many of you on here state that you sell it all (logs and chips) and make at the least beer money but i cant give the stuff away! So i was wondering just roughly what it cost to hire a air burner for the day (not sure if there is a minimum amount of time). I have access to the space to site it for the burning process and access to a loader to load it up. i run a small tree team so i am thinking it would be needed once every 6 months or so. On a side note i read about another member on here hiring in a 40 roll on off container. roughly how many transit size loads would that equate to? Anybody else have any pointers would be greatly appreciated I am based in berkshire. many thanks Jose
  10. i had a 130 tipper. Put uprated shocks and springs on it as it was terrible. Was fine after that. Could hold loads ( though it did have a transit body fitted). Only thing wrong is it broke down EVERY damn month. had to get rid of it as couldnt justify the expense. Next guy along near as damn it had a new truck. The transit i had had 1 £20 pipe go on it. Nothing else. Prob why the local gypsies nicked it a year later!
  11. says its a 3500kg so i would guess so. its probably not that small in person.

    Bolt on tipper

Yes it's a tad basic. It's a shame peter is not doing them anymore, he had a great looking product! Maybe one day he will start again.
  14. Just seen this on ebay. Looks like some one pinched peters pro tipper idea. PowerTipper.co.uk
  15. Damn it! I just gave away about £10000 of stools!
  16. I've worked with a smoker before and it's annoying that they seem think it's their right to sit around and smoke while the rest worked. Worked it out he smoked 2wk a year while we worked. Oh and it stinks.
  17. I agree, i happily give it away! If someone wants to give me a drink great but im just happy to see the back of it! If any other companies wants mine ill happy give it to them, its a pain in the rear for me! im in Berkshire, near Ascot. Cheers

    american pick ups

i hadnt thought of the weight tbh. I was sat in bed last night when i came across one and thought it might do 2 jobs in one. bummer back to the drawing board. Thank you for the replies, it will save me hours of googling and visits to car dealers to look at trucks.
  19. Just wondering if anybody here uses american pick ups? every other day people ask about hilux/ranger/ l200 double cabs for work. and the general response is the tub is too small and doesnt hold much. Well how about the american ones. I know they are over all much bigger but the trade off is a bigger tub on the back. and you still have a comfy double cab for 4-6 people! Be keen to hear if any body had or does do this. im looking into it, potentially swapping my 4x4 ( got a jeep commander) to something like a GMC Silverado. that way i have a comfy vehicle and can also use it for work ( with added sides and perhaps a load handler). I have a vauxhall movano for my main day to day work truck. This would work 1-2 days a week on smaller jobs. Please let me know your thought and experiences. Cheers

    mini 4wd truck

Yes as much as I tried and wanted it to work the importers really dropped the ball! The fiat doesn't come in tipper mode though. Unless u get it custom made I guess. Or use a load handler but don't know if this is viable for daily use

    mini 4wd truck

Well a quick update. I tried to buy one of these. was told by the imported at the drive it day where they had the official release of the 4wd model that they were in the country ready to go. Got list of options available, had a chat, gave him details of what i wanted in order to turn it into a mini arb truck. Not problems as they had the staff to build anything i wanted. Great. Paid a deposit. and.................................. that was july. ive now just got the response that they no longer wish to proceed with the order, in not so many words blaming me. I ordered it, told 4-6 weeks to build it ( most the bits were already in their available options catalogue). 8 weeks later and i cant remember how many calls and emails trying to find out any info whats so ever. Eventually i cancelled my order and this finally got a response. they had only done a few mods in nearly 2 months that would take any body builder a day or 2 max. Literally the cut off 2 ladder supports, put a sheet across the roof and rear screen and started to fabricate a simple box. the upper sides is meant to be a factory option that slots into place. Oh and cant have a 4wd as there is a problem, but wont say what or why. From the start anything i asked them took a week minimum to respond to. Its been by far the hardest ive ever had to try in my life to spend money! funny thing is ive failed! unless i am missing something if somebody was willing to spend over £20K on a brand new product id be jumping through hoops to keep them happy and promote my product. I think this has potential to be a great little truck, unfortunately the people importing seem to have no desire to treat the customers as customers. They have wasted my time and energy and i really cant see why tbh. ill try and add a pic of what they did do in 2 months of work. oh and the height had to be no higher than the cab but looking at those rear hinges they are way over! Cheers DFSK you have let yourself down terribly.

  24. Hi Arborist Yes your welcome to as much as you want! drop me a line. Size wise i tend to have to hump it out of back gardens so it has to be manageable by hand. To save future cutting i tended to cut it to 10 inch thick rings mostly ( unless out of time). I was planning to get into firewood and hadnt figured the best way to handle it/ store and stack. I know some people keep it in lengths but split, others just lengths. mine is all arb waste. like i said its all been sat for about 2 yrs. i had plans but family tragedy ruined it all and the firewood went with it. TBH i am happy to help with the loading but arranging the lorries to deliver is not something i have experience with and at this time not looking to start doing. Many thanks Jose
