  2. (ah-ha...but still on the right side of the border ) That's good coming from you! Only word I understood all weekend was 'cake'! Paul....really good to meet you too. From our perspective it was a great networking opportunity and we look forward to being there next year! Well done to you and the team!
  3. Good to meet you too Tommy and you too Ian (Flattered that you thought my face was new and not 'old'!!!!) Was great to put faces to names...great group of guys!
  4. Heard it was a stag-do!!
  5. James, Blair and I home safely having had a great couple of days at the show - weather was a real bonus too! Enjoyed meeting lots of Arbtalk guys and putting some faces to names. Thanks to all for making us feel welcome and to Steve, Andy, John and Rupe for showing us a bit of the Cheltenham night life!
  6. me and five boys
  7. We're heading down from Scotland tomorrow morning....will be at show on Friday, possibly Saturday too if it's worth it. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys
  8. Keeping it tree related is definitely the most sensible idea Sean Would it be an idea, if you have the photographic material, to keep the images of the trees in tune with the seasons on the calendar?
  9. Ah, sorry Frank, thought you were suggesting something else for a minute there! Phew!
  10. Just to clarify my earlier offer of sponsorship....it would have to be a classy type of calendar to have our name attached to it - nothing like above suggestion.
  11. Brilliant idea Sean...count me in! And of course, goes without saying that Clark would be happy to be a supporter of the calendar. Only thing I would suggest though is it would be best if sponsors were perhaps only mentioned on the back cover (discreetly) so as not to detract from the main purpose of the calendar. It is for charity after all. As for content, it would be a great idea to have some Calendar Boys ! Some local mechanics did a calendar here and it was surprising how many guys bought the calendar (as well as the bored housewifes!). The theme is maybe a bit overplayed, but there probably hasn't been a tree related one done before. It would certainly add an angle to the calendar and could earn some extra publicity...the Children's Trust has access to media people, so they could help out there. Definitely one for discussion at the Arb Show! (should I bring my camera??)
  12. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but as it was on here that I found a link to the Garden Business Insider, thought I would ask if anyone on here knows anything about this? I signed up as a member a few weeks ago, giving my personal details on the site and haven't heard anything more. I've also just tried to access the web site tonight, but there seems to be a site error. I have had emails from gardenforum.co.uk....is this the same company? If it isn't and Garden Business Insider no longer exists, how do I know that my confidential personal details are in safe hands? thanks in advance. Yvonne
  13. We work with a supplier of the custom fit earplugs and have just recently tested our first set on one of our guys in the factory. If you want some further info, just let me know.
  14. Hugh's a legend! Dandelion and Burdock beer looked fun too
  15. Excellent! Did anybody see the Hugh Fearnley Whitt episode where he challenged the Hackney Honey lad to a tasting session in the city? The young lad has eight hives of bees on the flat roof of his East End house which produce up to 2,000 jars of honey a year. Local tasters at the Hackney Farmers Market ranked the Hackney Honey ahead of Hugh's country Devon honey and even Hugh himself preferred the city honey. Very interesting...fascinating little creatures
  16. Hi there Monkey Boy.....if this helps, Ice Tail is a regular stock item with us.... Samson Ice Tail Accessory Cord - 1.8m | Arborist, Chainsaw & Forestry Equipment UK
  17. Hedgehogs being nocturnal, sleep during the day and if they are out in the daytime it is usually a sign that something is wrong with them. It could have been poisoned (slug pellets in gardens are a huge danger to hedgehogs and can kill them), been injured or just cold and hungry. It could also be a young orphaned one, not knowing how to fend for itself.
  18. If your little hog is still around, then it would be good if you could get him to a wildlife rescue centre asap. There are a couple of them around Cheshire.... Lower Moss Wood Wildlife Hospital Cares for: All wildlife Location: Knutsford Tel: 01565 755082 As Mick says, he will be a poorly hedgehog if he's out in the daylight.
  19. Just watching the news....5 confirmed dead....gunman been found dead in woods. Utterly devastating for everyone affected. Thoughts go out to all those involved. The community is also just coming to terms with the recent school bus crash which claimed some young lives. Dreadfully sad.
  20. That's strange Alex, I've never heard of anyone having such problems with the Safe-Eyes goggles. They should fit snuggly, without digging in and should certainly not leave any more than a faint mark on your skin where they have been sitting, just like any other type of goggle. There's a new design which is more like a spectacle with the mesh lens....I'll send you a free sample to try out and you can let me know how you get on with that
  21. Lucky boy David...I used to enjoy watching the tree creepers darting up and down the cherry tree in my garden looking for insects. If you stick a pair of them on the train, I'll get them off at Lockerbie!
  22. The fine mesh in the Safe Eyes goggles doesn't let in any debris and they don't fog up at all...ideal for windy days too. Have a look on our site for further info on them:- Safe Eyes Goggles | Fog Proof, Smear Proof, Scratch Proof Safety Goggles
  23. A very interesting and important subject imo. I consider myself very priviliged to live in an area abundant with wildlife, but sadly, there are some species that are disappearing. I haven't seen the tree-creeper around for a while and not so many yellow hammers either. Regular bird visitors in my garden are chaffinches, pied wagtails, house sparrows, goldfinches, starlings, bramblings, wide selection of the tit family, fieldfares, the odd lesser spotted woodpecker, rooks, swallows, wrens, thrushes, blackbirds and dunnocks,to name but a few. The RSPB website is a great resource to help identify birds, not only is there detailed information on the birds and their population numbers, but there's also an audio link to their song:- The RSPB: Bird guide Lovely poem Hama
  24. Had a house visit from this beautiful little chap today...... (Need to get the detox out now to clean up his calling cards!!)
  25. Not really up on my beetles, but guess this is the common dung/dor beetle??? He was about 20mm long and looked quite handsome! MonkeyD, that dragonfly is awesome!
