  1. Is that the chap I worked for with you a couple of times Steve? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Always left walnut's until in full leaf. Beech should be ok now.
  3. I think it's fine, never use the tab screen, always use the desktop which is almost identical to vista / 7 OP - go on Cheap Laptops, Tablet PC, and Cheap LED TVs | Ebuyer.com, much cheaper than high street places. Also, laptops are easily as good as desktops nowadays. Aim to get an intel i5 processor, 4gb ram and 500gb+ hard drive that should future proof you for a few months , nah it should be good for years to come. For that spec you'll be looking at around £350-£400
  4. Cheers OMTC, on the farm i've got some nice big oak and beech to practice on. Looking forward to it.
  5. I have finally joined the srwp revolution and i bought the wrench for £80 inc vat & delivery from forest and arb (ISC ZK2 Rope Wrench) which is around £25 cheaper than both frjones and honeybros !
  6. Yup Small world hey?
  7. I currently working on my new home, should be ready in 2 or 3 months. It's already part converted, but needs improving. As you can see it already has a woodburner (i've ripped out that crap kitchen already, getting a new one built by my carpenter housemate), it's essential in a live-in vehicle, not only to keep it nice and warm, but to stave off damp. (make sure you get a carbon monoxide & smoke alarm!!) A very cheap way of life, especially being completely off grid. RE: planning, i'd say just park it up as out of the way as possible
  8. Haha, does he just lurk on arbtalk without posting now he's banned, then make stuff for ebay that's trending on arbtalk? He's good at splicing though.
  9. That's what i first thought, although it is a new member asking and it doesn't say in the forum rules; "Thou shalt not ask what is superior, Stihl or Husqvarna." Can you amend the rules, Steve?
  10. Yes that goes without saying. (even though i just bought a 338xpt - only £100 and so many new bits its like Trigger's broom!!)
  11. Nice work!
  12. Oh go on then, upto 70cc - Husqvarna, 70cc+ Either Stihl or husky, both excellent. Everything else, hedge trimmers, blowers etc - Stihl. Or Ryobi, they make exceedingly good saws. I've got 10.
  13. Great idea! I'm sure it's going to prove a worthwhile investment. I bet other firms in the area will see it and think "Bugger, wish I had thought of that!"
  14. Is this a serious thread or a bit of satire?
  15. I don't see why it's needed in this situation...
  16. Got one fitted to my lwb transit campervan, a great invention! It has lines marking how far you are on the screen, get to the red line and you'll be about 5 inches from the wall/car/whatever.
  17. How can they charge £400 for a 3 man team, truck chipper and taking waste away?? Madness I tell thee! Days tree work for hire by 3 qualified tree surgeons | eBay £400 isn't enough for 2 men, let alone 3. I know this subject is a bit like a broken record, but thought this was worth a post. edit: oh and even funnier, check their feedback - includes a negative 'no firewood or contact' Priceless!
  18. I'd split it into a 40m rope and 5m strop, but then i don't ever use the other end of my rope. That way you get to enjoy the zigzag NOW!
  19. If cookers are on LPG and they have woodburners for heat, then what do they need all that power for? Fridges and freezers are efficient, as are modern lightbulbs. Unless they are running a 24/7 rave that involves having a 20kw sound system?
  20. search online for 'rfs certificate in arboriculture'
  21. Yes they can, you just need to haggle. I've bought 2 brand new saws over the last few years, both at jonesy prices but not from jonesy! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. OK, replace any swear words with suitable replacements! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Stihl MS 650 chainsaw (84.9cc) | F R Jones and Son cheaper and brand new, with full warranty.
  24. Copy his reply here pleeeeasse!!!
