  1. You can harvest the sap from birch trees soon.
  2. Nice one, Ty. Get some pics of your road trip
  3. Try John Glaisher woodland garden tree surgery services I know he was looking for someone a month or two ago. He's near Ilminster.
  4. #Robot voice YOU MUST ALL BUY STUFF FROM CENTRAL SERVICES EBAY, THEY ARE VERY, VERY GOOD. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. How many of the people who are against buying aspen based on price, also buy the best/most expensive tools, clothes, ppe, climbing equipment etc etc? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. I made a poor mans pulley saver a couple of years ago, using a bowline (yosemite variation would be best) loop with hose to keep it open, then loads of leccy tape round the hose and knot. a small oval mallion tied to the tail of the pulley saver for retrieval and you're away!
  7. eh? i've used a hitchclimber with fisherman knots on the friction rope for the last few years with no problems. the only difference i find between fishermans and spliced eyes is the price! £3 or £4 vs £15-20
  8. Nice work I'm currently learning the craft with some veterans of hedgelaying, north dorset style, i'll upload some pictures of my first attempt in a couple of weeks.
  9. Afaik its alright to chuck on a bonfire
  10. Re: disposal, burning them is supposed to be alright, no smoke at all (read it on here with pictures of said burning)
  11. Great starter combo for someone looking to get into wrenching! ISC Rope Wrench ZK2 PLUS Stiff Tether - For use DMM Hitchclimber or PETZL ZIGZAG | eBay
  12. Who can blame them for having a negative view? There are alot of idiots in this industry, carrying out shocking work on trees. Remember - a really good reduction won't catch the eye of the average joe public, but a butchered tree will be obvious to all! Tree surgeons doing a good job won't make the papers.
  13. Waveney was the last company i worked for before moving to Somerset. Great company, Alan the boss is a legend and all the crew are awesome. I wanted Alan to move the whole business to Somerset A very good opportunity for someone.
  14. It's been mentioned that the tether works better when attached directly to the bottom hole of the hc along with the krab attached to your harness.
  15. Got everything i need now, looking forward to using them this weekend I forgot how much i love buying arb gadgets! Thether bought from Gordon on ebay - can't recommend highly enough, top splicing! http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/central-services-user_id/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686
  16. Given that it's almost three times the price, i'd say yes you could. Say 2.5 litres (£5 extra using aspen) a day usage x around 150-200 days a year = £750-1000 . That's a new ms461 every year, or two top handles!
  17. Already sorted one Adam, cheers though! I'll do the obligatory 'my set up' nerd photo when i get it all together
  18. It's because i just bought a rope wrench isn't it, Steve. No need to make a new forum to mark the occasion, just a nice plaque would of done.
  19. Can't wait to use it with my zk2 Should be a match made in heaven!
  20. That warning is just so you don't use it as a single device on srt. Adding a wrench would be fine. It's same as all the other devices that are only rated for double ropes, but are fine with a wrench (ie pulley/hitch, lockjack etc)
  21. True. I hadn't seen one in person when i made the 'jealous' comment, i don't think many people had. It's a bit like deja vu with the new husky
  22. I'd like to confirm that a year and a half after this comment was made, I am no longer jealous. Just thought i'd make it clear. I dislike the 201t...alot!
  23. RIP ZK1 Would anyone like to make me a nice twin tailed tether? Muchas Gracias
  24. Only just clicked the link - bloody hell that's alot of stuff! good luck to them, hope they get a good amount
  25. Cheers Ian! Got it today, what struck me was how small it is! I've only seen dan's old zk1 in person last year and that was much more cumbersome.
