  6. I'm glad it did go where you wanted it to - the next 'v' crotch would of made for a better pulling point
  7. Great pictures, Roger. I'm a big fan of Canon slr's - will be a few years until i can afford a 5d or 7d - especially at the prices over here. My girlfriend has just bought a 85mm f/1.8 lens for her Canon - produces great depth of field.
  8. It could be next winter's yule log!
  9. yeh - shame they didn't publish the picture with the sign writing in Just found this update on 'Alex' - so funny! Embarrassed Alex goes home! | Felinecare Embarrassed Alex goes home! We recieved a call late on Thursday from a caller reporting her cat missing. He fitted Alex's desription perfectly and was missing from very close by although she was certain he was really a she! The next morning she arrived with her other cat, Alex's brother not sister, and the two went straight in for neutering at our vets and to be microchipped. They were taken home later the same day after their full check up. The boys were very glad to be reunited only poor Alex was less than pleased to get his name back - DAISY!
  10. Why not buy a new complete, then have the blade for when the other one is knackered?
  11. haha! imagine the faces on the feline care people if i bought out the 046!
  12. We were doing council last week when our services were called upon, just up the road. My most careful lowering operation yet! I thought this day would come, but not this early in my career... Would anyone like to adopt 'Alex'?
  13. yeh, same here! that's why my girlfriend did it lol
  14. 5 minutes with a needle and thread. that would of saved you going back to inferior trousers! ps. Stretch Air - no contest. Hi Flex look like a pair of tramp troos, after a year.
  15. I'm glad these pictures came out - the screen is broken on my camera, so you can't see what you are taking a picture of! Quite an enjoyable job today - taking down/felling various big pop's, in a little private wood. The first pic is of the other climber in the neighbouring tree, second - view from the top, third - managed to catch the lump of wood in flight, just before hitting the pond (the customer said to leave anything that landed in the pond as he could get it out with the tractor in the summer!) fourth - two of the stems waiting to be felled
  16. With all due respect i would have to disagree. I had minimal experience (a few days feeding a chipper) before embarking on a 10 week course and i coped fine, as did the 10 other people with no/little experience. Buy a cheap campervan and do merrist wood! Then you can sell it at the end and save on accom.
  17. Cheers Carl, hope you pass the re-take. I think i'll buy one of the above books every 2-3 months, otherwise i'll get distracted and have information overload!
  18. Your pictures of the redwoods make me depressed and pleased in equal measures - wish i was there right now.
  19. Not a great picture, but look! No clouds! Shame it was a Robinia.... edit: just in case - I wasn't using it one handed, just holding it.

  23. Wow! If you aren't at the top of your game, I don't know who is!
  24. ...you rub dirt into an accidental saw cut, to cover it up. ...your heart jumps out of your throat when the ladder slips. ...you cover up the stump with soil and say you have ground it. ...you charge £650 for half an hours' work.
  25. This will certainly please the ladder snob elite! Get well soon mate, glad it wasn't more serious.
