  1. ive got my marks, is it in the form of a transcript for the first year i've just thought though, as its classed as part time learning would it be the first 2 years to get the certificate rather than a full time 1 year? And yes i am well apart from getting wet everyday but thats part and parcel of the job unfortunately:biggrin:

  3. well i'm surprised you didn't know that? have you seen the table i'm on about now?
  4. by classifying trees this way though, trees of a "veteran" nature are overlooked (IMO) due to them not being pigeonholed in the ancient status because of their young age
  5. From one of my books Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  6. Hi Paul, After completeing (and getting distinction marks in) my first year FdSc, does that mean i qualify to be a Technician member? If so how do i go about changing it from an associate?
  7. So say a yew's lifespan is 5000 years and at only 1000 years in its already an ancient? Dont think so... You can't classify all species of different trees into a same "age" category that defines them as a vet or ancient Sent from Rob's GalaxySII

  11. If your refering to shrinkable soils it depends where you are in the country and what soil the tree is planted in. With regards to property damage via the roots (if any at all) I'd have to look it up in my tables for that species Sent from Rob's GalaxySII

  16. I think you have to have 3 years membership and a level 5 or above to become a professional member, 3 years membership and a level 3 or above to become a technical member. But I'm not sure If that 3 years membership has to be consecutive or not? Sent from Rob's GalaxySII

  20. Here's one for you Geriit apologies if i have missed the answer in one of your posts, i do try to read everything but sometimes things get missed:blush: Anyway, another thread on veterans and ages of trees got me thinking about something else.... Can you guestimate? the age of a tree by using your TSSE format to see what fungi are about and at which point of the "lifecycle" they are showing, therefore identifying the age of the tree e.g. If there was an oak that lived to 900, in these years at different stages of the trees lifespan, does it follow a timeline in accordance with the TSSE? [First 300 years - Certain fungi only ] [ Species 1 ] [ Species 2 ] [ Species 3 ] [ Species 4 ] [ etc ] [ [ [second 300 years - Different fungi ] [ Species 5 ] [ Species 6 ] [ Species 7 ] [ Species 8 ] [ etc ] [ [ [Third 300 years - New types of fungi ] [ Species 9 ] [ Species 10 ] [ Species 11 ] [ Species 12 ] [ etc ] Do certain types of fungus only appear at a certain time, is it as simple as this or am i just wittering?
  21. Yup was confusing vets and ancients:blush: Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  22. would that just be a poorly sick tree then rather than a veteran? Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  23. Theres an old saying about oaks, it goes something like, they spend 300 years growing, 300 maturing and 300 years senescing, our something to that affect Gives you an idea of a veteran age though:thumbup: Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  24. Is it a weekend job? Need a hand? Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
