  8. Definitive id would be the leaves, T. platyphyllos has hairy soft velvety leaves whereas T. x europeaea are more often than not hairless Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  9. Don't think its the right fruit for T. cordata so gonna say T. platyphyllos or T. x europaea Would need to see pics of bark ro be sure, close up of leaves top and bottom and the petiole also helps Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  10. other possibilities are Tilia cordata and Tilia platyphyllos, but its more than likely T. europaea Depending on where you are its common name can either be Lime or Linden. Sent from Rob's GalaxySII

  17. Thanks Gerrit, don't think anything is being done on the beach were we where on but further down ther coast the peat and trees are being carbon dated and I bet they are Ooooooold..! Never seem anything like it before and glad I have now, just shows how things change over time and to see back in history is amazing! Sent from Rob's GalaxySII

  24. how do plants communicate through vast distances then? There was a good article a while back in the national geographic about trees in savannah in africa (i think) being grazed upon by herding animals The long and short of it was that one tree that was grazed upon sent out chemical signals of sorts to the others to warn them and they grew more spikes!! But if i remember this was over a vast distance. Is allelopathy that powerful?
  25. there was a good article in the AA's arb magazine about being an expert witness in court but sounds strictly for pro's with experience (not that i'm saying your not) Without the experience and decent reports you would get ripped apart by cross examination (again no offence by meaning you) Sounds like its a minefield of an area but fully rewarding when done properly
