  1. Its growing sideways for starters, that cant be helping lol!
  2. Hi guys. I am posting on behalf of Rowan the Bruce, as he is having computer problems. The question is does anyone have or know where can be obtained, a four foot long, approx 3/4" diameter auger bit. He needs to drill through a large split in a mature tulip tree which he has already cobra braced, in order to brace the split together with a rod. He is having probs finding a supplier. Any ideas?
  3. That is superb, both in its craftsmanship and the purpose. Top job.
  4. Looking neat mate. Thats an interesting(!) view from the drivers seat.
  5. AAAAaaaaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!! sorry:blushing:theres just been gazillions of these threads...oh, and its all down to personal preference in the end....good luck.
  6. Nice pics. Im going to guess at a little over 100'....maybe 120. But im probably miles out lol!!
  7. I am pretty sure that if you earn money or use a chainsaw in this country for work- even a farmer trimming a field hedge, you are required by law to have a level of basic training such as the 2 day LANTRA course. I am going to try and check on that.
  8. 'we're thinking it might fall the wrong way'!!!!! Like theres a right way for that one!!! What a bunch of TOTAL RETARDS!!!!!!
  9. I agree with Dave (skyhuck).....I consider myself a pretty 'average' climber, but am told by some guys i work with that i am ok. My self confidence is very low though......However it could be the other way tound- I COULD think myself the best climber in the world and yet be useless.....so I'm giving myself 10 points.......out of 1000!!!:laugh1:
  10. Ah its a tough life.... Its not that tranquil when the wind and rain get going though..
  11. Dave- listen to Skyhuck and Steve........USE AC PRICE NOT VOS!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. My labs are, unbelievably, amazing ratter....they end up having a tug of war with them. Brilliant.
  13. Yeah it is very deep. Even where i was working the channel is over 20m at low tide!!! The winch is crushingly dull TBH.....at least i think so. Before i had one i used to think it was the best bit of kit ever....the more i use them the more i hate them.....i think i need a helicopter- is that the fastest way of getting timber out? Its all about speed for me- and winching myself out of a stimking boggy mess is too slow by far.....in fact winching timber with the landy is too slow really. I needed a proper winch on that job, but the franchguard i usually stick on a tractor wasnt even an option...clients orders.
  14. Big chippers for serious conny bashing....wasted wood on anything else IMO.
  15. wow...who is that Vikki woman....pant pant... oh yeah- nice looking pullies.
  16. I hacve ghad similar waiting experiences with NFU......Trust all the way now.
  17. Sounds like you have just justified it mate!!
  18. More to the point would it survive the journey out of the woods lol.
  19. :scared1:3-4 weeks?!?!? I'd have been down the doc's long before that!!
  20. Great pics Jon, really takes me back. I grew up in Dorset, and we used to regularly go for walks in the new forest and trips to Beaulieu every new year......Grockle...LOL i havent heaerd that since i moved to Cornwall where the hordes are referred to as 'emmets' meaning 'ant-like'....
