    you recording it mate?
  2. Yeah i agree with both of you, I was just pointing out a flaw in the system and giving a quick example.....It takes a very short time to do a RA for a small job.

I think thats one of the funniest posts i have ever seen.......you are welcome to my (wife's) credit card.........and the solicitor that comes with it! (walking away chuckling and shaking head)....."my credit card details and a carribean holiday in the same post....:laugh1:"
  4. I think its better like that, i am too lazy to search for hidden bits and have thus missed some threads:blushing:

I think you can right-click on the image and save it to your pictures file and get it from there?
  8. busmans holiday.....i reckon thats not a bad way to have a vacation.
  9. Really sorry i missed this one.....I would have got 1,7 & 8 right without a book, albeit spelt incorrectly i think, and guessed at the ganoderma app. as just a ganoderma. Good thread David.
  10. Ah right. Fair enough. I hate kennels too, but am lucky enough to be able to leave mine runing about under the guidance of various of the constant stream of people that seem to frequent our place, and i have 4 so they can keep each other company if we are away for the day.
  11. I agree with both the last posts, but would like to add that as the written RA is not required on such jobs, but a verbal one is, then i think the case would be arguable in favour of the contractor, esp if on the job sheet a check box was there to be ticked after everyone has understood the verbally given one for example.

Not as such mate.....you werent here to start one proper lol.
  13. ahem:blushing: actually i can think of someone who is a little like that too. However he is still aware that modern techniques exist.

I t5hink its perfectly acceptable, and has been said, good that questions are being asked. Really good in fact. Your customer doesnt know you from adam, and is perfectly within their rights to ask such things after seeing such a program. It can only be a good thing TBH- you can answer with head held high that the job will be done right.....could a pikey?
  15. Good point, and TBH by the time they ARE wanting to go it alone, you will have had a decent amount of loyalty etc from them for it not to be a prob i s'pose. There are utility co's out there for gaining nowt but experience etc.
  16. I was just about to write a long-winded confused version of this. Well put mate:thumbup1:
  17. My missus doesnt climb, but works very hard outdoors, and her hands are as tough as mine almost. I dont like it. actually i cant remember it lol:blushing:
  18. I think you are right. I have been involved with tree work for 10 of the last 12 years , but only climbing for about 3 1/2, as you know. I am certainly not a comp speed climber, and wouldnt enter one other than to see quite HOW slow i am but i do see a lot of guys starting out in this game at my age (36 in june). I have no desire to climb every day- my body cannot take it- tennis elbow, missing discs, misaligned spine, siezed right shoulder etc etc, but i cant see myself doing much else. I tried stonework for a couple of years, but came back to tree work for a rest !!! I cannot deny your second to last statement either, one has to wonder really. But then again, i think that the same is equally true of youngsters too mike to be fair.
  19. I think that you are presenting a somewhat flawed argument Jon. Do you honestly believe that it would be possible to work for nearly a working lifetime and be that set in your ways as to not at least hear of, let alone implement, newer techniques, especially in an industry geared towards the care of something. I believe that it would be nigh on impossible to do even 10 years in this industry without meeting like minded and similarly employed people, and the inevitable discussions that would ensue from said meetings (such as in equipment suppliers even!!) would hence ensure a modecom of learning at least, rendering it impossible to stay in an outdated rut, such as that of which you imply.
