  1. Welcome to AT Dan- excellent carvings there. thanks for posting the pics.
  2. Nice one Ace. Been on larch alot myself recently. It makes a nice change to section out timber for me, as alot of my hardwood I cut through and through.
  3. MASSIVE thanks to Timber Cutter Dartmoor. He has really got things back on track for me this week after my beloved old friend ms361 chainsaw went AWOL. TCD you know what you have done, im not going into it here, but suffice to say it was WAY beyond the call of duty mate, and i am seriously indebted to you for you kindness. Thank you:001_smile:
  4. My beloved 361 has just been taken from the side of the road.
  5. 5.5 or 5.2 are ok. After half the chains life you can switch to a 4.8mm file.
  6. Yes- perfect. It wont rot, itll look gorgeous, and as it is being used outside, and has had some drying (6 months is enough to air dry a 1" softwood board) it wont move to much, if at all.
  7. ME too. Used to run a 130 with a 200, and that was on the button even in snow etc too, and it was high mileage ex utility.
  8. Ive said it before, and i say it again- BFG muds are the best out there for utility vehicles- all of what dean has said, plus they last for ages, as they have a very hard compound (as do all michelins; BFG being a division of michelin).
  9. I hate bungees. The £4 nylon things are great. i have one of each.
  10. Take some pics of it without the side plate on so we can see mate.
  11. But you really really dont need glow plugs on 200 or 300tdi engines. Even if you take them out the engine will still start under a foot of snow.
  12. Is it seated properly on the sprocket?
  13. Haha yeah those buggers smoke loads!
  14. What do you want to do with it?
  15. It does work, and is a very old way of treating wood. You are essentially tarring it using the resin from the wood. Why bother with larch though- it doesnt rot!!
  16. Get on Bri- its only got to -2 down here!!
  17. Just reread your post- dumping it into the exhaust would have very different effects to an engine starved of diesel. That could well be what they do.
  18. Unburnt diesel is black. Check out this tatra truck as is reaches the top of the hill- tatras have the ability to dump shed loads of diesel into the engine for a bit more grunt.......sounds awesome too! Not sure about that with challengers- cant see for a moment how that would work- maybe they arent dumping extra fuel in, but adding something to the fuel? I thought they had smoke cartridges plastered all over the outside? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwSh1v4qbIU]YouTube - Truck Trial Balve 2007 3[/ame]
  19. Beech, ash, oak, sycamore, larch offcuts from the mill, holm oak, odd bit of macrocarpa and even some leylandii!
  20. Max towing is 2 tonne, on road only, and a 10x5 ifor tipper weighs a tonne. Waste of time IMO. Get a disco.
  21. white smoke from a diesel is fuel starvation- you must have had a weak pump or blocked filters. The filter in the lift pump is faviourite for that one.
  22. What on earth are you on about?
  23. I think that all stihl chains are designed to be sharpened with the file at 90 degrees to the bar, some husky ones need the file to be angled up or down by a bit. Is this what you mean?
