  7. Slippery, you called me a few weeks ago regarding timber for logs. I called your number but got no answer. Where's the trees. I could possibly come and have a look at what's required for you.
  8. Had my Jo Beau M300 for 2 years now. Still on the first set of blades:biggrin:
  9. Thanks for all the replies have not had chance to read your replies until now. Some very interesting comments. The bonus is i have already sold some wet logs to a customer he wants them for next season. Am intrigued by the varying calculations and am sticking with my view that I'll get 60 cube out of the 26 tons.
  10. I am hoping to build a store from felled timber. Green Oak. Watch this space. Cheers for the positive comments people.
  11. Thanks Dave, and a good recommendation for Chantler Timber. They delivered good quality timber. I'll be using them again. Also be chasing AP Bell for some timber ?
  12. If you look a little close at the pics you will see a lot of Ash and not much oak. Sorry, should have said and a lot of it was felled 3 months ago. So should be great for next season.
  13. When you work for yourself and there's no work on what do you do? Sit at home and wait for the phone to ring? No, you get down the yard and graft. A bonus to this career is the small profit you will make by using your time well.
  14. I aim to charge £100/cube from September. Have held my prices to £80.00 this winter.
  15. Even at 1.5 cube a tone conservative estimate, I'll get 39 cube which gives about £3000 which is £2000 profit as I do all the splitting so no labour costs. Any more is a bonus.
  16. £39.00/ton x 26 tons yes big ouch but think I'll get 60 cube out of it @ £80.00/cube. Not so much of a big ouch more like a lot of grafting!
  17. Well, not too much work on at the moment. Had 2 big jobs scheduled for January and both have been put on hold so I decided to put my money into the future and invest in logs for the future! Need to do some serious logging now.
  18. Had to order some timber in as we have sold out and do not want to be short next season.
  19. Give it to meeeeeeeee I'll come and get it. Just spent £1000 on 26 tons of oak and ash........bugger!
  20. Reminds me of the song "Oh what a perfect day":001_smile:
  21. I have had a call from a chap who wants some firewood at least 1m3 He is too far away to warrant delivery from me as the delivery cost would be inappropriate. Does anyone cover SK16 5JU If you do give him a call I told him the average cost of 1m3 would be around £80.00 Details of client are: Chris 159 Cheetam Hill Road Duckinfield SK16 5JU e-mail him [email protected] Regards, Treewarrior aka John Wild:thumbup:
