    I use a relic. Nokia 3510 like a brick:001_tt2:
  8. Yeah, slow and steady, more than last year, but getting a lot of enquirys for prices, think people are looking around for a good deal. No probs, will season them for another year, put up my prices and make more cash next year. Better in the store earning interest than in the bank earning bugger all?
  9. Ditto to that, always sad to hear about any accident. My thoughts are to say, think, plan, position then cut, slow and careful, lessens the risk,,,I hope?
  10. You want cheap. you get cheap. If you are willing to invest time and money in someone then so be it. Don't moan that the guys you employ are brainless, they possibly are, however if you are willing to train them and they improve then great. Then there are those that DONT want to graft, if this is the case with your present set up, then get rid and start again. I have a list if GOOD QUALITY GROUNDIES waiting for a call. I use the quality experienced guys for the difficult/serious jobs and will use some of my younger willing to learn and train on the less tricky jobs. Everyone gets paid what they are worth and we are all happy. On some contracts I will pay more for the best Climber/Groundie. Profit is good but reputation is King:thumbup:
  11. Cheers guys. Had a young guy who wanted to experience work as a groundie. Was very excited to have the chance of watching the job. Spent half an hour with him and my main Groundie, explaining all the risks, H&S etc. He went very quiet when he saw a 12" chain flying through the air towards the field and even quieter when I asked him to go and find it as the farmer would not have been too pleased if his cows injured themselves on it. Great job though, thanks for the comments
  12. Why?? Logs should be sold by volume, not weight?
  13. Nice shape!
  14. Saturday's job. Oak takedown. Took most of the weight off the crown, then over it came. Waiting for the video of the fell. Will post as soon as i get it(from the client). Went through 2 x 24" chains, 2 x 18" chains and 1 12" chain. Have never experienced a tree with so much steel in it. Came across, Cheshire fencing rails, bolts and loads of 6" nails. Client was very nice, made us a full cooked breakfast and offered to pay for my damaged chains. Some people are great.
  15. Hear hear, nothing wrong with being a wine snob
  16. Stihl climbing, Husky on the ground, and stihl for carving!
  17. Absolutely brilliant:thumbup:
  18. Cheers Simon. Like the seat and table. Will be making something like this with the mill.
  19. Excellent. How did you move it?
  20. 30" although this was cut freehand!
  21. Knocked up this seat using one Oak Log. Made the pegs out of an oak branch. Any comments advice would be appreciated, especially on my first attempt at this sort of joint work. Thanks, John Wild
  22. Ditto mate. Happy birthday yesterday!
  23. Excellent stuff:001_smile:
  24. On the serious side. I started with, A Citroen Xara Piccasso and a 5' x 3ft trailer. Had a friendly farmer to dispose arisings and worked from there. Leased a chipper, £3.00 / day (£90.00 month) and worked away until I could afford an L200 Warrior and a £5000.00 Hydraulic tipper trailer. Start small, buy the best you can and save to buy better. IMO He who buys cheap spends more time fixing:thumbup:
