  1. In the past I have used a shovel against the roller motor to put pressure onto the ratchet head, it stops the star bit rising out of the bolt head and then slow steady pressure turning the bolt with an assistant adding the pressure on the shovel. This method has got some very mashed up bolts out. Remember if you go down the welding route you will change the temper in the blades so bin those.

    AP break test

I do science me !!! great vid. who needs ce testing
  3. Carabiners for saws come under LOLER so if they are defective they should not be used, However rigging carabiners only have to have a 2 way action. IMO for the sake of £20 a couple of correctly working attachments is not too much to expect.
  4. I have a 395xp. Great saw but the HAVs rating is crap compared to the 660. depends on what work you a likely to be doing with it, if your logging all day or for prolonged periods go for the 660
  5. The NVQ in Trees and Timber has several different pathways to the Diploma, INCLUDING training for the CS units. The apprentices should have a buy in from their employer to give these kids exposure to all the elements of the course. In many ways the passing students are more experienced than the guys coming off of full time courses. My son is on the apprentiship scheme and the structure of work guidence and college is working very well for him. Oh and the CS training is free for under 18s (gov funded) so the only expence is the cost of the assesments.
  6. Country Compost Harefield free for chip
  7. The point is LOLER inspections are carried out by certified competent persons. They are accountable should the worst happen. Standing in court to argue your competence will not work without the cert. You may be a brilliant driver but without the bit of paper from the man your not in the eyes of the law. It is about accountability, if you want to certify your own gear do the course. That is assuming your insurance company will accept you checking your own kit as some dont.
  8. Plus if using for business use over 50 kms from base have a tacho fitted
  9. I do. I still miss my barrow/hepburn gt77
  10. If hes going to receive some training from a training school they will provide him with the kit. The advantage of this is he will get to try several harnesses and will be able to find one that suits his physioligy best

    Cesmm

Try downloading this, Cesmm-soft Copy - New It is not the greatest scanned document but might help in some way. My understanding is it based around a schedule of rates with percentage uplifts and deductions.
  15. Try Down to Earth they had an ad out last week
  16. The driver aparently suffered a punctured lung and internal bleeding. He was critical but stable yesterday afternoon. Even after the crew told the reporters that the tree was a Lime they insisted it was an Oak (they know best).
  17. Shampoo all types, works fine
