  1. Hamma Have you though of just getting the syllabus and taking the exams for the Tech cert, You clearly have a great deal of knowledge and with maybe a little focus on things you may be weak on I am sure you could gain an excellent pass.
  2. If the hitch fails even with a breakaway cable when chained to a truck the hitch nose digs into the road surface and depending on speed will flip the machine either in to on coming traffic or to the kerbs side. This information was given to me by VOSA when the pulled us over for a roadside check, we were told to remove the chain before allowing us to leave. The only legal way to have it chained on is to put a chain on when you arrive on site, assuming it is to stay stationary
  3. I always had my chippers chained to the back of my Vans, be aware that this is not legal and if Mr Plod gets funny it s a nick.
  4. Hama I ll be up for joining you if Dave will run another course.

  7. O2 are shocking in the Surrey area. South of Guildford you can drive for 7-8 miles before you can get a signal
  8. I have found that ALL makes jam up like this if not kept clean. I don t like graphite powder as the is an abrasion issue. I have used WD with success but I really like silicon spray, it flushes and coats the mechanism without attracting sh**e.
  9. Gecko Classics
  10. Neat enough job mate, you have good skills. However reducing Birch IMO is not good. If its in a problem place fell it. It is difficult when working for bosses who spec badly.
  11. Me too.Avoid the N97 utter crap
  12. Civic Trees
  13. Not always that straight forward, the allen heads have a tendancy to round off. The bolts are glued in. So be prepared to get the welder out for one or two. A bit of heat might help and maybe an impact driver to get them moving. If your not into that try Roger at Hempstead Plant in Kings Langley, although no longer a Timberwolf dealer he was for many years and his lads are very experienced with all things Timberwolf.
  14. OOOOOOOO Good luck mate, Felled alot of trees in the last 22 years cant remember many individual trees. However I do remember each of the 3 Monkey Puzzles i have felled. Can you just drop the limbs or do they require lowering or throwing to a drop zone?
  15. No disrespect intended fella, i have stood outside the recognised bodies for years saying they are nothing more than old boys clubs, NO ONE LISTENS. If you don t like it GET INVOLVED AND CHANGE IT FROM WITHIN. How can they talk for the majority if your voice is not heard. .
  16. Yes Rupe It was very good. If I remember correctly we were given tools to take home which equated to the cost of the course, so in effect FREEEEE
  17. I have seen it on Platanus although on minor infestation
  18. You can enroll on the Stihl courses. I did one years ago but it was at the Head office near Camberley.
  19. Firstly, is there a TPO on the tree? Secondly, if not the neighbour is entitled to remove any roots growing into their property. If this is likely to make the tree unstable then she should inform the owner of the tree what they have done, then it is up to him what action he takes to mitigate the risk.
  20. Janey its NJUG 4 now
  21. Chris Davis thats a blast from the past, I did the RFS cert arb with him at Capel. Saw him recently at the LTOA meeting at Sion Pk. Top bloke now at Connicks. I have a card somewhere if you need his details.
