  2. This is the usual set up for a hitch climber. http://www.google.com.au/imgres?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&sa=N&biw=1366&bih=667&tbm=isch&tbnid=9QoW1yjgtrR8iM:&imgrefurl=http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/climbers-talk/6673-hitch-climber-progress.html&docid=EXHaycinERITDM&imgurl=http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachments/climbers-talk/13185d1238429845-hitch-climber-progress-003.jpg&w=600&h=800&ei=IHBMUPr-GKqViAePrIDIBg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=441&vpy=4&dur=1524&hovh=259&hovw=194&tx=129&ty=96&sig=108989822045854703004&page=1&tbnh=146&tbnw=120&start=0&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0,i:79 this is usung the pulley as a standard slack tender http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/6317/p1010509b.jpg
  3. You need to gain confidence on your own mate as your the one in the tree if you want someone to tell you what point is safe to anchor on when they might not be able to see the union or the limb with the same view as yourself. Just start at a company tell them you want to be a climber work hard, let your work do the talking and never turn down an opportunity to climb if there asking if you want to do it they obviously trust you enough to do it, be willing and keen and you will go far unfortunately this isn't an industry were you will get your hand held and all the praise in the world, just keep your head down and let your work do the talking. Arborists will let you know when your doing it wrong if theres nothing bad to say about you thats a good thing.
  4. not to my knowledge due to the way the rope exits the device, its normally used in a rads system
  5. Thats sherbrookes video already mentioned and its in Tasmania. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2
  6. Do all the wrenches come with a solid thether or is it an optional extra decided upon by the seller? I know tree stuff have a solid thether option. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2
  7. Stick with a hitchclimber its a far tidier setup, works better and is more versatile.
  8. My cinch runs better than any other sidestrop setup i have used, has never been sticking or jumpy in the wet or sappy trees, I know my spiderjack and lockjack will grab, i have seen people climb on some pretty dangerous hitches as they are trying to mimmic the effects of the spiderjack (sound familiar onelab)..... Mechanical devices just take getting used to and they often offer different advantages and disadvantages to climbing like using any friction hitch based climbing technique they all have their downfalls and you tend to work your climibng around that.
  9. Spectra speed. Not sure how much it is though mate Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2
  10. have a look on ebay there are a few pairs on there if your looking for a cheap pair
  11. nope pinched it off FB
  12. looks pretty cool.
  13. if it was that near powerlines that i couldn't throw safely i wouldn't be climbing it without a shutdown, dont like the idea of being that close to live powerlines with metal equipment
  14. http://t.qkme.me/36f01p.jpg this is why i have mine
  15. I just hate getting the ladders off the top of the truck, and what happens when you can't use a ladder and you have to spend ages attempting to get a line in a tree, just blame stupid throwlines? no its not the throwlines fault you dont use it and arent good at it. With all the advances in rope access and working straight of access lines etc it makes sense to climb to the first limbs then work straight away e.g off a footlocking prussic on an access line.
  16. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h4khZIX7jU]health and safety guy falls off ladder - YouTube[/ame]
  17. hmmm maybe not sure off the top of my head, it cant be threaded through anyway
  18. no it cant
  19. 10mmArmor pruss if you have enough dollar? or spectra speed Timmy?
  20. Storage for work lines pull ropes? once washed throughly of course
  21. two more photos of the new wrench
  22. Black diamond haulbag. that is all
  23. I have this as my thether also i set it up using an isc fixed cheeck pulley inbetween the cheeks, ben does the same you have to tie the Vt so the turnbuckle doesnt rub agaisnt the rope, if using a Hc the hole is big enough to fit a krab through if you use a cornertrap it wil l keep it fairly rigid. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2
  24. if somethings broken due to yourself cutting corners, or being lazy "that will fit there!" i think it should be fixed in your own time. but if its a genuine accident then its one of those things.
