  1. thts one stunning bit of driving , i never knew how hard driving a rally car was until a spent a weekend up at a rally school . I take my hat of to the guy but he still is a male away form the late Colin Mcrae .
  2. not alot as we have our own TM side of the company . but if we are working for another company then it is dependant - 2 way lights with lane closure including set up and take down for 24 hours is £210.00 + vat . however we have firms that use us a fair bit and get a reasonable discount
  3. not sure yet as she needs a couple more bods to run the course , would it be just you ? if so i will call her tomorrow and find out how soon , also ay be able to sort a site nearer the border to save some traveling for you . pm me if you want to with a contact number and i will call you as soon as i have spoken to nicky
  4. to be totally honest there is not a factory endorsed tyre for most of the current 4x4's , infact most munufacturers will void your warante if you fit mud terrains. Western power tend not to fit them unless they really have too . I run BFG MT2's on my ranger and can not fault them , they are a fair bit better than the origional mud terrains when off road and roughly as good as the old ones on the road . i would keep looking for some BFG's if i was you but should you not be able to get any then maybe try a set of these - Google Image Result for http://www.extreme4x4.co.uk/acatalog/insasptrack3L.jpg
  5. if anyone down this way (near cornwall) is looking to do their medium tree felling then give Kernow training a call , i spoke to nicky toda y and she is looking to run a course soon but needs a couple more candidates . im looking forward to a couple days trainin in the woods !!
  6. personally i think every tree surgeon starting out on his own should have an ldv to start off with . they are good old strong busses and cheep on parts , you could do far worse .
  7. pretty much what we did , waste not want not and all that
  8. i agree that unless you know what your doing then stay away until the power is off . But i didnt think that open wire can be used as a service (meaning pole to house ) im pretty sure under ESQCR this is not acceptable any more and should be changed to concentric .
  9. the 2003 rangers do not have a Dual mass flywheel , you will most ikely find that the clutch has got hot at some point and also the pressure plate may be a little worn , £2oo will get you a new clutch , we did it our selves which did help , also your ranger shoult have had a new cam belt at 90k , one tip is that once you have had a new clutcu fitted if you have any reversing up hills to do wth a trailer , where possible put it in low box .
  10. not being rude bob but had you considdered a crawler crane ? i have used on where the all terain crane could not get to due to soft ground and mud . Just an idea tho , is there an Ainscouh near you ? i know they have crawlers
  11. so what is at the top of the bank ? road ? car park ? grassed area ? only reason i ask is to see if you could use a crane ??
  12. but the other side does touch ??
  13. As huck said - not a big job , tke it to a mechanic who wil be able to do this in about half hour
  14. hiya where abouts in the country are you ? you never know there may well be someone on Arbtalk in your area that could be interested
  15. they will expect cs 30 , 31 , 38 , 39 , and you will be expexted to have a groundy with cs 38 , your kit will need to be LOLER inspected , and your insurer may well want to see proof of training
  16. as above pluss emergency first aid and a good understanding of trees ! Mayeb a coppy of bs3998 would help
  17. looks lik about 12-16 standing loads of logs to me steve . nice lookin tree tho
  18. well you cant blame me for trying , however im more than happy to buy your timber trailer !!!
  19. well if you have scratched the paint work on the tractor or cage i will be more than happy to buy your tractor for a sensble price say 5k ?
  20. yes , you could alays see if anyone has a second hand device at half the price of a new one , just an idea tho , if i had one i would offer it
  21. i would go for a bigger saw and forget the 12 inch timber - we have found bigger timber much easyer to work . maybe an ms441 ?
  22. thye look like an ok little saw if your not climbing every day .
  23. i think you are refering to a Concentric cable , these are fairly safe to work around as they are classed as twin screened cable - please see attachment. http://www.otds.co.uk/electrical-equipment/cables/concentric-cable.jpg as much as this cable is pretty safe to work arround i would still contact your local distribuion office and request a shut down. it may also be possible that the linesmen that do the shud town may also drop the line so that its out of your way completly thus making the job even easyer . Hope this is of use to you BUT remember if your not sure get it switched off !!
  24. yeah it is a lovely place , i really should go and do my medium size trees but down this way i dont think a sole teaches it in cornwall lmao
