  1. Personally for 4k your not looking at a stunner , both timberwolf and green mech do a 5" petrol machine , use the 4k as a decent deposit and get something that works and won't let you down , it's all to easy to get a dud when your excited to be buying your first chipper and getting to the stage where your willing to compromise just to get a machine , when in that position of buying your first chipper every one says they won't but believe me you will be tempted
  2. I found that a good way to overcome working in the could is to rub a little deep heat into your hands , if your climbing just try the backs of your hands BUT remember not to rum your face or eyes :-)
  3. Clearly you hadn't done all of the above , secondary address seeing as he was not living there ? Landline number ? The signature is key , if you had checked these details out and they had not been authentic would you have carried out the work ? You don't get these details not to use them to authenticate the person/job and establish ownership . Secondly the signature is key - no signature no work - simple , there are some decent traveling folk and I can imagine you have already upset a few on here . There are two you can go down - 1 accept that you are just as at fault and learn from it or start making comments about minorities and making accusations and find your self back in the same situation again or find yourself being made the target of some pretty unhappy people . I'm really not having a go fella but really try and step back and look at it from another angle
  4. Without sounding too harsh I think it's only fair to point out that as the contractor you are responsible for making sure that you have the right permission from the right person , for a start - a written quotation outlining the scope of works, cost and most importantly - the landowners details, address, contact details( land line) and a signature of that person , why not jot the reg no of the vehicle that the person turns up in or that's on the drive way . As much as I can imagine your angry there is still no need to make claims of it being the traveling folk not all traveling folk need the tar of your brush , some are actually decent honest human beings . But the bottom line is to see it as a learning curve and move on from it
  5. Not bad for a Saturday , the rest was pretty repetitive with some heavy height reductions lol
  6. A couple from today
  7. I would strongly advise you to get the debt recovered professionally , believe me the courts don't take kindly to attempts made by the claimant that are not 100% accurate and professional , if you make a mistake either in correspondence or by pushing the customer who has not paid he may call it harassment to which the judge will take a dim view , get someone like Thomas Higgins to recover your money and what ever compensation/ interest that your entitled to
  8. Yeah it will fit a 1250
  9. If it's of anŷ interest I have an unused pto reverse box to fit a u1600 , comes with mounting frame
  10. Fr the money you will spend you will be far far better of going to A.C price as already said , don't buy a mog because it's cheep and will do " get the right mog for the job and save money in the long run
  11. I have tried several times to have a look at the " members only" posts and I'm told that this page is available for members only and not guests , I have logged back in and it is still the same ????
  12. A letter from these guys usually does the trick :-) Debt collection process - Letter Before Action & Late Payment demand | The Thomas Higgins Partnership
  13. Very nice looking mog there Rhys
  14. Having recently seen how the actual specifics of oil quality vary and are really not they well policed/enforced within the lubricants industry I would be very very wary , I recently had my motor factors drop of some ford spec transmission oil to replace what I had drained from the gearbox of my ranger , within two hours I was contacted by the motor factors telling me not to use the oil as the oil was not suitable even though it was ford spec oil . Personally if your carrying out your own lube services then I would be inclined to steer well clear of extended life oil . Regular servicing wins every time
  15. 15/40 mineral will be fine , fully synth is simply not worth the money if you ensure that your oil is changed every 3500-4000 miles .
  16. Agh well now we know it's age it's a little easier . In short - there is a central locking/ immobiliser/ alarm ECU that it prone to brain farts , but the wire used in the early focus was low quality and likely to degrade , hence your most likely not getting enough volts / signal to unlock the door , you average garage would be able to pinpoint this using a snap on computer or similar
  17. Take the car to your ford dealer , it is a common fault that usually can be fixed by plugging it in , what year is the car ?
  18. Is the crane operated from a pump powered from the crank with its own hyd oil tank in front of the rad/ behind the grab bar ? Or is it powered from the tractors hyd outputs , if it is powered but it's own pump it is possible to change it over and power from tractor services but it will be a bit slow ere and stop u using anŷ other hyd outputs at the same time . I fit is powered by its own pump the you may have a faulty solenoid valve .
  19. Not all of the large construction firms are nightmares to deal with , I have found it to be fairly strait forward to deal with them if you make your payment terms clear from the beginning and have a paper trail that clearly defines what you have quoted for and the exact scope of the works that are being carried out within your quotation , if there are extras then again confirm this with a email whilst on site and ensure that it is made clear that it will be added to the original quotation and that the same terms apply - if you don't get an email accepting that then no extra works are carried out . I have actually had more trouble workng for the bigger companies within our own industry , infact one significant national company down here in cornwall was actually that poor at paying that we looked into " factoring" or the invoice loan system that banks offer , sadly lloyds refused as they knew how poor that company was at paying and didn't want to take the chance of not getting paid . It really is sad when there is no respect for the smaller firms in the same trade and even more so when the smaller firms are keeping the contract alive .
  20. Nope only a baby Schliesing and some bigger pto machines . Lol I would not like to think how long it would take with a quad chip , especially after today
  21. So true , I regularly have to accept that if I don't do it then the likelihood is a saw jockey will do it , but then if I can't work with the client and enable the to see why doing what they want is poor practice or even destruction of a healthy viable tree then I have to expect that they will probably opt for the saw jockey anyhow . If they go with what's acceptable and within Arboricultural good practice then usually they will accept the quote and go ahead . It doesn't happen every time but hey we can only try in the vain hope others will follow suit
  22. Pahahaha the inter web is evil and lies . But being serious , the industry needs a reality check there are way too many tree surgery outfits in the uk and the stark reality is that the uk is not heavily wooded and there is a significant decline in mature - over mature trees , when they are gone there gone . It's all to easy to do what ever the customer says regardless .
  23. Nope not a nurse, doctor or Ebola worker!! Like many on here i class myself as an Arborist and yes I turn work down that is excessive , un necessary where ever possible . I respect my reputation and respect the good working relationship that I have with our tree officers here. Service industry No - professional industry yes .
  24. I could not agree less ! It still baffles me that most tree surgeons believe that reducing a tree is good for the tree or that it's acceptable to reduce trees without any real justifications , actually having tree officers is almost certainly what keeps the professional decent firms apart from the guys out there that are not really fussed about the rights and wrongs , I genuinely believe that every treed should be subject to L/A consent prior to works taking place , there are way to many people that are 99% driven by financial gain and not at all fussed about doing what is right for the tree .
  25. When the new Fendt came out everyone said that it was no good for the woods , I see plenty working in the woods now , I guess it depends on how kit is worked and how clean the woodland is , no use for me what so ever , it would end up with not a piece of glass in it within no time and certainly no mirrors lol
