  1. I would look at something like a Valtra 6400 or 6550hi tec , decent tractors that are designed for forestry , I would be a little cautious about running a mulcher on anything under 100 hp , yes it will do it but slowly and for how long ?. And again it depends on what u class as mulching .
  2. Very true but I think the chipper will be going onto the valmet and getting crane fed there has to be in the region of 120-150 tons of tree on the deck now lol:lol:
  3. It has been a good couple days working with a great couple of guys , now for the fun to start chipping !!
  4. Another guy would be Mike Cruchley who does a lot of work with MWMAC , top guy and I'm fairly sure he will come to you , he'll he came down to cornwall !! Chainsaw, Construction, CPS Training, Courses, Qualifications, Mid Wales
  5. Do you have a rotator or are you requiring a grab and rotator ? Either way give Mark at A.T Osborne a call .
  6. Been using ally bashlin's for over ten years and have never had a problem , both original pads and Velcro , bloody good spikes and highly recommend them
  7. Having spent years using foot locking to access larger trees I can assure you that it's bad for you and hideous on your knee joints , SRT has certainly changed the way I climb and I would urge you to give it some consideration . SRT is also for more suitable if you want to work off of it and again more productive . This is onlymy opinion but have one knackered knee and one half knackered knee I can assure you it's not good for you to use this skill commercially .
  8. There was a plant hire firm in star cross that were pretty useful .
  9. Been running 540's since they came out and very happy with them plenty of power and capable of cutting bigger timber which sadly we found that the 201 that I bought for the lads to try was nowhere near as powerful land could not be relied on to cut big timber quickly enough to be sure that you could rig down bigger sections and be sure they would sever quickly enough .
  10. Lol I have a private plate on my 3series bmw it has no pertinence to myself or the memsaab, however when we bought the car it had an Irish plate so the dealer offered to have it turned into a private plate . We decided to keep the reg which has lead to being asked who's initials or what it means lol they never no whet here to believe me when I say it has no relevance .
  11. Nick may still be interested , well worth a try
  12. Give Nick Coutrier a call down in ippelpen I'm sure he would be interested and would collect with his timber wagon if it's in lengths
  13. Surely and he la can deem it as a an open space then the FC should be in agreement . This is the problem in the uk , every possible authority or organisation interprets the ruling differently , I guess I'm no different but really ! ! As a country we really do need to smarten up and sort our system of red tape out
  14. Haha I'm not a betting man but I certainly would not fancy the odds on that
  15. I have been hunting everywhere but have not found a sole that sells such a thing
  16. https://www.dorsetforyou.com/media/129815/Section-106-sports-and-open-space-definitions/pdf/Section_106_-_recreation_and_open_spaces_definitions.pdf
  17. I guess it depends on how soon the school need the work doing , the FC are not renowned for clearing these thing up quickly . As stated previously - speak to the LA who will make the decision as the whether or not they want you to apply to the FC
  18. How are you mixing your fuel ? Personally I would not be too concerned , have you noticed it getting progressively worse ?
  19. What exactly do u feel is an issue ?
  20. Under section 1o6 of the town and country planning act it defines what is constituted as an open space ( an exemption within the FC felling licence requirements) sub section 2 clearly defines schools and other institutional playing fields as open spaces . The whole document is a very useful tool in out line of work and often can clarify a somewhat grey area . But granted there are times it doesn't
  21. Ha I thought u had named one offer the owner of what was tavvy chainsaws hahaha
  22. Never the less the FC have no interest in Arboricultural works , if the tree is being section ally dismantled and cut into rings( arb waste) here is no way they will want to get involved or have any interest . If the FC were to get involved with every removal of trees from site where over 5m3 of timber had been cut then I think almost all of us would be in considerable trouble . In short - contact you LA tree officer and clarify it . It's easy to add bells and whistles to current red tape and end up wasting an awful lot of time and needles effort
  23. I would say no , if the tree officer was asked he would claim that it is within domestic curtilage and that it was a LA issue and not FC , secondly if the works are based on Arboricultural advice and are being removed as such then no permission is needed from the FC , if the trees are classed as dangerous the are also exempt .
