  1. I'm interested in learning this for large tree access. Can anyone recommend a basic, easy kit to start with?Been looking at the petzel stuff but am guessing it will be expensive.Would a ascender, pantin, strop and access line do for starting?Don't know anyone that does it so will be self teaching.I'm not interested in climbing around in srt just for access to start with. The cheaper the option the better. Any help advice would be great thanks paul

  9. Dismantled a beech yesterday in the rain was sodden and mossy had a bit of fun when my vt decided not to grab after i had put up a pulley for rigging,i dropped about 10-15ft before i had it under control, fortunatly i remove all pegs as i go up so fell mid air.First time in nearly 10 years this has happened to me,think there were a few factors in play wet being one of them, decided to put a extra wrap on after that!

  15. Im about 6 climbs into my steins and am happy apart from lower straps which have worn very easy and fast on the sharp edges of where they wrap around shank, very badly designed angles, have put heaps of lec tape around area to soften edges, leg upper leg straps are good enough.
