  1. That's fantastic Steve. Keep churning those out for the right money and you'll retire early!
  2. Potential problem with that process is that Police won't view CCTV as a fishing expedition but (hopefully) will do if they're told there's something positive on it. To determine that you're dependent on the CCTV manager playing ball and doing the necessary viewing for you. In this case the time can be pinned down quite tightly it seems so it would be a horrible abuse of the whole idea of CCTV if the poor victim can't persuade CCTV managers to look at their tapes as they won't need to spend much time on the task. I hope I'm right and that there is some footage somewhere. Petrol stations can be particularly good as the scum need somewhere to get their own fuel, Red Bull and fags.
  3. Christ you've taken a hit; really sorry to hear that. Sickening.
  4. Might sound a silly question but you're sure the roots in the drain belonged to the cherry plum and not the neighbour's bamboo? The roots are very different; the plum's obviously would be fine and irregular in shape, the bamboo's thicker, straighter and white/pale in colour.
  5. By 'logged up' do you include splitting? It'll dry fine if split and kept under a lid but if you leave it in lengths unsplit it'll probably rot to varying degrees
  6. When I saw the term river staircase I thought the river was going to be flowing down the stairs, not across, across, across. Not for me either; same for the floors
  7. The panels are high; you'd get a colossal amount of logs inside that cage that would nee a lot of propping. I like the line of pallets idea in principle though. How about something like well supported sheep netting along the long sides, the tops tied across the pallets at regular intervals? Have you planned a roof?
  8. Don't know about the Chinese stuff -personally I wouldn't touch it but that's personal preference - but Hyundai are South Korean. I've never heard anyone describe their products as rubbish.
  9. Unless things have changed my nearest green waste site do separate fence panels, they being more expensive to tip, and the non-chip green waste - grass, hedge cuttings etc - are landfilled. That was told me by the yard operator but it was a couple of years ago so could have changed. It's a mad world.
  10. Cat's piss!

    Jokes???

100,000 Covid deaths instead of No.10. It's more political satire than a joke.
  12. Fair enough; I hadn't seen those. I don't think I'd be looking to deeply into the detail given the condition of that piece though! I'm not adamant it's willow, it just seemed the obvious choice to me.
  13. @Stubby it's in Boche; can't understand a word 🤭
  14. My thought too. Where did the idea of oak come from?!
  15. The place we moved to near Bexhill in 1968 had 4 acres with over 700 trees planted by the previous owner, including 50-odd Cricket Bat Willows. They were 80'+ trees by then and Gray Nicolls used to pop along from Robertsbridge every year and harvest two trees: the spec was a minimum of 16' of straight knot-free stem with a minimum girth of 48". The rest of the tree my dad processed into firewood for my mum to try and burn in the house when it was only half seasoned 😟
  16. As a user of Aspen, both 2 and 4, for several years in multiple machines, new and old, I doubt very much the fuel has caused the problem; especially so with a new machine. I think you need to look into the hardware so to speak. I sincerely hope I'm right.
  17. He knows a thing or two about logs
  18. With such a limited sighting perhaps a Greater Spotted Woodpecker? Take a look at Images and see if it's even close. Agreed not larger than a thrush but it was a brief sighting...
  19. And care even less as long as the logs they get burn OK. And who can blame them?
  20. Can't see a problem with that .Clearing arisings from site is part of the job; the lumps aren't firewood for sale ARE THEY!
  21. If you met the buyer at the garage - your car garage or a petrol station? - how does he know where your gear is?
  22. If the tree has to go and there's room for a fell then do that. If it needs dismantling how about leaving a good monolith? That's a big tree; the stem would make great habitat
  23. Ashes to ashes Radioactive poss Heart of Darkness

    Jokes???

  25. But they're not all going to waste: this lot has just gone to a very good woodturner
