  1. Got you - thanks. The way I found it was searching the Bay for 'snatch block': could it be used like one for doubling up your pull? Cheers, Jon
  2. Can anyone (Treewolf perhaps if you're still here) tell me what this is and if it's likely to be useful? CABLE BLOCK for Tifor Tractel Habegger Winch Puller on eBay (end time 17-Dec-10 19:48:59 GMT) Cheers, Jon

    Jokes???

Don't you hate it when you find something wrong with you. Only the other day I found that one of my testicles was bigger than the other two.

    Jokes???

In the current extreme weather conditions the government advise that you take with you a shovel, a blanket and a hazard light. I felt a right idiot on the bus this morning.
  5. The power of the saw has something to do with it then? I was sectioning a big lump of London Plane with my 064 a couple of weeks ago and heard it cut right through what turned out to be a good sized nail in the middle. But I kept going for another half hour before inspecting the teeth (there was no drop in performance) and the nail might as well not have been there; there was just no damage. Good news but why?
  6. Er... um...
  7. Sadly I'm unable to re-supply a pub on the east edge of the City of London. Can anyone oblige? Cheers, Jon
  8. If anyone's feeling tempted to mark their stuff the website above are offering members (small) discounts on marking products. Don't know if you could join up today and be eligible though.
  9. Let the local Old Bill know you've seen it on the move; that'll add interest. The thieving scum aren't professionals are they? Perhaps there's hope yet; fingers crossed for you.
  10. This may help a bit as it's from the horse's mouth. Environment Agency - Do I need to register as a waste carrier or broker of controlled waste?
  11. Tony, didn't mean to doubt you (and I don't climb so that's my outer) but it just seems too simple an explanation for us mortals. I believe you! BTW the snails in my fishtanks don't eat that way; they're all over the place!
  12. Yup, Welcome to Loadhandler.com or tie two loops to a nearby tree and drive off.
  13. So they move forward just over a body's length each time, leaving a stripe of uneaten algae rather than clear grazing? Mollusc OCD!
  14. Have just returned from delivering wood and there was a peacock stirring in the client's shed. The perfect place for it - cool and dry.
  15. I think it's looking at Go Ape-style organised recreational climbing Ad but I'm not sure! There was a 'roll up and clamber about the canopy' day here last June. It was hugely popular and the teenagers I've talked to who've been to Go Ape have raved about it. With the right marketing I'd say it stood a better chance than many ventures. Is this for you or someone you know? Jon
  16. Disturbed in hibernation. I find several in the woodpile every winter. I put them in the shed that never has its door closed so it stays cold; they don't want to warm up and use energy they can't replace with there being no food available.
  17. A mineral deficiency/imbalance? The soil is presumably acid and poor (bracken) so trace elements could be locked up.
  18. immobilise - the home of the National Property Register and Recovery Service
  19. Blimey, that brings back memories. I corn/silage/dung carted with those in '78/79. Oil? Not a clue - whatever was cheapest that month I guess and had been put in the 50-gall drum with handpump. No use to you whatsoever though am I. Soz!

    Jokes???

If you shake your head from side to side while saying the word 'gullible' it sounds like 'orange'.
  21. Took the words right out of my mouth! See the thread 'Cheap way to empty your pickup'. Costs £175!

    Hand cream

I have farming rellies who swear by tubs of Boots own WSP - White Soft Paraffiin. Costs £5-6 for a tub weighing ?1lb or so. They've tried all sorts down the years and stuck with this. I've found the Norwegian Fisherman's stuff to be about as much use as an ashtray in a hang glider.
  23.
  24. I'm guessing that Pwlhelli's too far but Kindlett from here (Wyn) may be able to help. It looks like he's not active currently but you may be able to track him down via ebay (look for firewood in that area).
  25. But fill up quick when the light does come on: I've run out before now within 15 miles of the light coming on!
