  1. Well now you know, I await Andys apology:biggrin:
  2. Andy you seem to have built an image in your head of someone using it to do shoddy work:001_rolleyes: I've done work in large crowns where the tree has been butchered by our little grey tree rats, I would need to have an anchor point about 4" thick to get out to some points that are dead to avoid BT lines and fences. Storm damage as well . I simply bring up the pole saw, use it to get the tricky stuff, send it down or jam it up, use my top handle to take the remaining limb/ branch and move on! Our trees on the west coast here are very different from a lot of trees I see down in Rural England where they have room to grow. Most of my work is on neglected coppice on steep bankings or dead elms that are like powder! As Andy Dupane said to the Governer of Shawshank, your being very Obtuse:001_tt2:
  3. 11/12/13 pretty cool, am I right in thinking we won't get consecutive numbers until 1/2/3(1/2.2103) .
  4. They are great for doing old pollards where the verticals did nothing and the laterals went bonkers due to growing on the edge of a woodland, chestnuts are bad for it.
  5. Thanks guys, Eddie you told me more in that post than the Cat engineers could! The offset boom is on the foot pedal just now, there's a button on the left joystick that has something to do with switching that over and just now the right joystick Flicky button is doing nothing! Once the valve and hitch turn up we will have a play. The are 2 diverted valves on the boom as well
  6. At least the boom was out the way!
  7. That's a cracking building, is it a house or yard? Old Mill?
  8. Definitely better on joysticks BUT the switch the company make( not cat) they make is a horrendous looking thing that gets tie wrapped on! Their pedal is nice, it sits forward. The Cat pedal is a bit close to the back, easy forward but back on the heel is awkward. I find on every new machine I get, I want to change loads, then after a couple of weeks, I get used to it. I think the machine has everything needed on the joysticks, as there is a rocker switch on 1 and button on the other . The Cat guys didn't want to touch anything as it wasn't their Grab, which is fair enough and the fact they are paying nearly a grand for this extra stuff speaks volumes for their customer care:thumbup1: Time will tell
  9. Cat made a boo boo about those hydraulics, they assumed with so many pipes, buttons and pedals that it would be straight forward. Grab turns up,mthey plug it in, guess what, either 1 or other, not both! So I bought the grab under the assumption it would work, it didn't! They honoured their mistake and are paying for a new hitch with built in diverse valve. That machine has extra hydraulics fitted and the customer pulled out the deal, leaving them with a machine with £2k of extras! It has variable flow as well with a roller button on side. So I took it off their hands for usual price:biggrin: I haven't even looked at the manual:001_rolleyes: I can't see how with 5 pipes on the boom it isn't doing the job without this diverted valve. All going to plan it will be 2 pedals for grab and rotate. When I'm getting the grab fitted, I'll get my guy to Sus it out:laugh1:
  10. I've bought a demo grab for it, there's a video a few pages back. I'm awaiting the right fittings to match the machine . Hopefully by the start of the week.
  11. So if a not so good climber got the job done quicker to the same standard, is this laziness
  12. Nice set up!! Check the front tyres in the JD!
  13. I don't dead wood or reduce tickle tickle style!
  14. I use it all the time in the tree, I love my pole saw:thumbup:
  15. Can't help but laugh everytime, now I want a hilux again !!
  16. I never liked the cantilever system, I used to have to lift the back body and try and get the switch at the same time to help it tip. I had the same as Essex after and it was brilliant! I'm sure you'll soon fix it, beef it up and make it better Bob:thumbup1:
  17. Wow!!!!!!! That's awesome! Tell Greg to go for it do I can buy mine back!
  18. Nice 1!! My machine gets delivered tomorrow:001_smile:
