    doesnt need modded, its a gadget, its not essential, i buy gadgets when ive had a good week and treat myself. i was topping 2 horrible sitkas today, my saw was jammed behind a branch, my head was jammed under a branch and the easiest thing i had to do was put my strop on, usually id be fishing about and it would get caught and id have a little tantrum!

    ive never needed a rotating spout, just move the chipper a few inches to the side, job done

    Marc I don't know about relevance but here we have a man climbing a bigger tree than any of us will likely come across in our careers with nothing more than a home made strop and an axe in a pair of home made pants! Doing our job is not being heroic, it's doing our job. You either do it or not, some like to blame others and make excuses why they didn't. Personally I beat myself up for being a failure and only when I achieve the goal do I feel good about myself.

    If it's wet timber, then don't do boards, they will look amazing then split and worp. If just wanting to mill, try big beams. Or to make good use. Stand them on their end on a pallet and cover the top and air dry for years then you can mill them into boards.

    to answer Mesterh, every tree is climbable, humans have proved this! maybe not by me, but if it stands and is made of wood, someone will get up it! as far as objects are concerned beneath, then there has to be a desicion made to avoid, move, protect or replace that object. Its all part of the assessment when you look at the job. If i get to a tree and the most important thing is to get it on the ground, then thats priority. Would i make th same desicions if i worked for someone else? no!

    you will be fine with weight and power, just educate the guys chipping to slow the rollers down for big hardwood or stop and start the bar, Holly and beech especially. brilliant chipper, i ran 1 for 6 years.

    to me its not about money or what he or she says, its about being the guy who can do it, getting up there and proving to myself that i can do it. Its about achievement, its the feeling of success and overcoming fear. theres no such thing as an unclimbable tree, there is such a thing as someone who doesnt want to climb the tree. And rather than just say they dont want to, its a blame game! if you say you are a tree cutter climber then say it when there isnt a tree you wouldnt tackle. This video is what every tree climber should want to aspire to, if you dont watch this and see what the basis of this job is all about. strapping on a set of spikes and monkeying up then go and get a job somewhere else and stop kidding yourself!
