One of my influences. Very hard to imitate his thumb rolls on the bass. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO5Ajf_eO_s]"Blind Arthur's Breakdown" BLIND BLAKE (1929) Ragtime Blues Guitar Legend - YouTube[/ame]

I play but not jazz. Into blues and particularly country blues and ragtime blues. Played fingerstyle acoustic for 30 yrs but that doesn't mean I'm any good:001_smile:
  3. Mistle thrushes are sitting now. Always in a branch fork. One of our local rangers has reported day old mallards this week. I've never known them so early.
  4. There is good and evil. Whether you choose to call one God and the other Satan is up to the individual.
  5. That oak I posted is only 10 mins from the APF. The land it's on has just changed hands. Can't see much of a problem getting permission to get close up if anyone's interested at APF time. A pic to remind you.
  6. Cats have been spotted for years. Now they're either very long-lived, keep breeding or someone keeps planting them. If they do exist why has one never been, shot, run over or died naturally and the remains found?
  7. I've never blamed God for the bad things that have happened in my life, and plenty have, but just put it down to life. It's just a natural course of things. Why would my life have to change if I suddenly acknowledged the existance of God? Surely I would just carry on as I am but with an inner smugness:001_smile: Oh and a desire to deliver a message.
  8. That's the lowest of the low. I had exactly the same thing happen years ago so know how you feel.
  9. Lovely tree. Aesculus? Really old walnut?

    UFOs

Closest civilian airport is about 20 miles. There are literally hundreds of reports from this area. Most are probably easily explained. My girlfriend's house is close to this area and we watched something one night. I have no explanation. No sound, slow moving and then disappeared at speed.

    UFOs

As religion and ghosts are being discussed thought I'd ask about UFO sightings. Actually what's prompted it is the latest sighting over Cannock Chase. This area throws up many 'sightings'. What do you think? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGzzvwjIXbY]Genuine UFO Sighting Over Cannock Chase Castle Ring Flying Saucer Lights 13/02/2012 - YouTube[/ame]
  12. Motorola Defy. Waterproof, dustproof, drop proof. Pilkington Gorilla glass screen that doesn't scratch and can be fixed on the enduro bike and used as GPS with Memory Map.
  13. As little as possible. One spare krab and an adjustable lanyard.
  14. None of the crane operators I've worked with want any holding wood. They've always asked for a cut to break clean so the limb or section doesn't swing.
  15. Wouldn't have bothered to cut them all back to match one tooth. You'd never have noticed it cutting.
  16. If we look at the history of the earth as we know it then there is an inevitability that in 1k, 10k or 50 thousand years things will have changed beyond any comprehension we have now. Nothing is stable in the universe and all it takes is a stray meteor to alter things radically. All we can do is ensure we take care of the earth in the short time we're destined to be here. There again I could be wildly wrong:001_smile:
  17. I lived for many years on an old estate which was riddled with ghost stories. During the war American servicemen who were stationed there disliked patrolling a certain section of the park. They claimed stories of a presence. My brother-in-law's mother, who was the daughter of the Lord claimed she regularly heard footsteps in the house. A family friend frightened himself witless when driving through the park at night claimed an apparition of a green man appeared in the car beside him. Another long time resident put himself to bed for three days after claiming he saw an apparition as he cycled through the park one night. I held the fishing rights on the estate lake and spent many, many nights there. Sometimes alone, sometimes with mates and over many years none of us ever experienced anything remotely resembling a ghost. Unless of course you let your mind take control and the fox screams became the sound of someone being tortured, the badger grunts and shouts were of some long-dead man and the barn owls screeching eerily were a wild banshee but those wisps of mist wafted across the water and meadow were definitely ghosts:001_smile:
  18. I've owned two Sabo mowers. Both roughcut types. One 2T and one 4T and I haven't managed to break either of them with wanton abuse.
  19. Ghosts. Of course they exist. Restless souls that will not cross over into the other world. Trapped, desperate beings. Some people have the gift of communication with the 'other side'. Some people believe these people can and visit them for comfort. Police forces around the world have been known to use these people in an attempt to locate the bodies of murder victims. So how come none of these gifted people can communicate with murder victims and come up with the culprits name, address etc?
  20. I don't know who God is. The only answer I have is that he must be to Christians what any other god must have been to ancient civilizations. Take your pick: Romans, Greeks, Aztecs etc. They needed a god to explain happenings beyond their comprehension. Was 'our' God created for the same reason? Do modern Christians still believe in the Bible's explanation of the world's creation? Did God think; 'I know, I'll send someone down there and pooh pooh all these beliefs in other gods'? Did anyone actually part the sea, feed five thousand and perform numerous other miracles? Personally I just don't buy into it but good luck to those who do.
  21. This is what intrigues me about bible interpretation. There are parts which are taken literally and then when something doesn't fit then it's manipulated/interpreted to. It puzzles me.
  22. Easy enough to disconnect but I never do that! Be mindful if the property is alarmed with a Redcare type system. It will show a fault and the alarm co. will eventually phone the police if they can't contact a nominated key holder.
