  1. My Dad...God rest...spent every winter hedglaying. I remember when I was about ten years old he came very close to having a hand amputated. For 6 months he was in unbearable pain which couldn't be sorted by several specialists he'd seen. His hand was swollen to a huge size and he used to walk around the fields at night because he couldn't sleep. As the time drew nearer to the consultant's decision to amputate it suddenly started to get better. This was all from a thorn so if it doesn't get better quickly....CHECK IT OUT!
  2. Reminds me of the best spaniel I ever had. Always had to retrieve a toad if he found one and then spent an hour foaming at the mouth:001_smile: Back to the original thread.....we've pulled off clearance job for LA today with about a weeks work left on it. Two blackbirds nests. Oh well.... back in Oct.
  3. They'll enjoy that. A long time ago when I was young and foolish I gave my ferrets a treat. We'd shot some Canadas and I chucked one into the ferret run. The body cavity became their home and it would have taken a brave man to evict them:001_smile:
  4. Haven't touched conifer hedges during spring and summer for years. Single trees always seem to contain a greenfinch's nest and even the smallest hedge two or three of them. As for pigeons...well squab pie's tasty:001_tongue:
  5. But it's only dangerous if you cut too far. You have to make sure you don't just as you ensure you don't cut too far with the top cut if you do that first.
  6. High maintenance trees! I know one or two LAs in Essex used to employ dedicated CB willow inspectors. May be worth enquiring.
  7. And yes! In Sweden you would be failed if youd put horizontalcut in first. Its dangerous!!!! Just wondering why it's dangerous. Surely if the face is good it matters not which order they're cut?
  8. Clear shrink tube from an electrical factors, white tape from kids clothing shop, permanent marker and Dremel for krabs and pulleys.
  9. Oregon were giving away samples at the APF last year. I've just tried them out and it seems ok but haven't put enough through the saw, MS260, to see if chain wear and stretch differs from standard oil. Now trying out veg oil to see what that's like.
  10. I agree mewps are for puffs and fat lads but if I was doing it you could call me overweight or gay:001_smile: Make life a lot easier lifted into the crowns. Just realised I must be pissed cos I've had to go through this and correct spelling twice
  11. Good habitat with no targets...unless public access. Why does the owner want to clean them?

    veg oil

I ran my L200 on bio from waste oil bought off a company who were making it. It ran very smoothly but I had major problems with the filter gumming up. At least half of the filter filled with a jelly-like substance and brought the truck to a standstill. I was convinced it was down to the fact that the company weren't properly removing the lanolin from the bio diesel. I've also run on straight veg oil with no problems except cold starting but that can be avoided with heating and/or additives.
  13. Frank Muir eh.....everyone's a fruit and nut case. Is there any significance in the fact that there are three Friday 13th's in 2009? And where were my birthday wishes a week ago? My condolensces (?) Graham, another Pisces. Tis a troubled life... .......this troubled life. Oh how I've suffered for my art and dreams carrying the curse of Pisces. Happy b'day for last week
  14. Thanks...and for my birthday I received a pulled shoulder when a branch broke I was walking and ended up upside down:001_smile:
  15. 4.3.9 is not meaningless...it's my b'day:scared1:

    Jokes???

A couple were cuddling up in bed on their wedding night; 'Darling' the bride said. 'I have a confession.......I used to be a hooker'. Taken aback the groom thought for a while and then replied: 'actually that's quite erotic....tell me about it'. 'Well' she replied. 'My name was Nigel and I played for Wigan'.
  17. How much of the estate is visible from publicly accessed areas? Does seem a knee jerk reaction by an 'enthusiastic individual'.

    Happy days

Well done. In these times that's good news.
  19. That they may but my plans for a helicopter will have Vincey scratchin' his head.
