  1. That's 46.8 loose cube! What the hell am I doing wrong?!
  2. What was the m/c of the logs in that crate?
  3. Of course not, that's fine Something somewhere in the mix isn't matching up, we just dont know what!
  4. Another example: 8m3 on the forwarder filled 10m3 stacking space exactly, which I think was equivilent to 12m3 loose. See pics on that other recent thread of mine re bsl logs. 1.5 again!
  5. Doesn't matter; you said you get 2m3 loose out of a tonne. I know I can only get 1.3-1.5m3 loose from a tonne. If I was getting 18m3 wood from the OPs lorry, I'd be expecting to produce 27 loose cubic metre loads at best. The 1 tonne/m3 = 2 loose cuM has never manifested ime. Shame!
  6. Oh well. Ive never managed to get 2 loose m3 out of 1m3 timber. More like 1.3-1.5.
  7. As per my post on another firewood thread; you must mean from a seasoned tonne? Not green!
  8. What and your "auto-left-lib" response isn't?!
  9. No way sorry. Peeps used to say a tonne of green wood would make 2 cube. Nope. 1.5 more like. From beech, ash, syc, alder, birch thru SS, DF, JL I've consistently used 1m3 solid to produce 1.5 loose. Thats 25cm logs like this:
  10. Nope. BGU just a Waitrose (overpriced) version of all the other Slovenian winches; Uniforest / Balfor / Krpan etc etc etc. Perfectly good winches but not for me. For softwood thinnings its all about line speed and nothing touches the Iglands in this respect: Ratio of 6:1 instead of the standard 10:1. Straight PTO input is another thing I like. Remote control is really only a bonus for lone working. Even then, you've still got to go back with the pull to remove the chokers. A good winch man instead of a remote control is better for the choker mans morale too. In answer to the OP tho Igland or Pfanzelt. The latter are the nuts imo. Not budget but actually good value fir what you get. Only 20% loss over the drum yada yada yada
  11. Assuming from the tonnage specified, line speed isn't a priorty? Horsepower input? = tba!
  12. This is a good post, made even greater by the tragic illustration that is the Penlee Lifeboat disaster. MV Union Star couldn't restart engines for this very reason, with catastrophic and far reaching consequences.
  13. Very interesting thread. I've wanted to emigrate for years but other half would never contemplate it. Real shame. Extremely please that Reg grabbed it and went for it. Some of the videos make the UK look so crap.
  14. The best fake husky is a 365 copy. Still be better than a 560 haha
  15. Dunno if any of you are watching the Guy Martin Speed thing on TV? Anyway, his Nevada Transit was prepped using Redline Oil See link below. http://response.pure360.com/interface/external_view_email.php?C9340312177836533716429126283414&varId=
  16. How on earth do you go on thinking and believing that data on paper or even in tests is the same as facts? It's like saying the Cummins QSV91 has higher output than a Jenbacher 320. Well no shi Sherlock. The qsv is like the 560xp, wonderful data on low btu, facts are that it's in bits while the J320 plods on. Facts eh.
  17. I'll kick off with this that I like. Andrew Marr in his study; accompanied by stress-reducing moggy. From the BBC2 one-off documentary "My brain and me" re his recovery from a stroke.
  18. Softwood £20!!! You're having a laugh - buy all you can get at that price! I just bought processor DF for £37.50 / metre (no vat tho) plus haulage. Haulage starts at £12 here and goes up to nearly 20. Obviously this is the expensive end. And yet our log prices aer among the lowest. Typical west country idiots then. Chip from Euro starts at £26 r/side!!!
  19. No harm at all. Unlike Redex, RL isn't abrasive.
  20. Way over. Application? Whole bottle for clean-up; ott for regular use. I used to keep a bottle of it if I got caught short and had to grab some supermarket derv One bottle treats 100 gallons / 454 litres! There are ~1cm markings / graduations on the bottle; one of them per tankful is fine. 85 Plus Tech Info(1).pdf
  21. The whole bottle?! Crike! What size tank?
