  1. TBH, ram version is a much better and safer bet. The Thor that Stephen is selling would be a good buy, and your tractor will drive it no bother.
  2. Very tidy set up. 3.5 tonner?
  3. Your'e biggest problem will probably be getting enough timber, and also getting it at a price that leaves a margin for both you and the retailer. Presuming your building is a closed in warehouse, it may not be ideal for drying logs. If I were in your position, I would split into your vented bags, stack outside on pallets to avoid any mould issues and sell to the 'trade' as unseasoned logs. It will keep your costs down, money not tied up for a year or more, and you wont have to worry about moisture % etc. You could also offer loose loads by the m3.
  4. Lets not get carried away here. I merely thought Sams post was humorous in the way it was written and I replied accordingly. A bit of light relief never did anyone any harm.
  5. You NEVER mess with another mans processor.
  6. The biggest drawback I see with the tipper bodies (besides cost) is that they tend not to look great. I'm in a similiar situation and was half thinking of single cab 4wd and small crane.
  7. [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Handheld-Wood-Moisture-Meter-MD-812/dp/B00118SL6A[/ame] Do the probes ever break, and can replacements be got?
  8. A handy sized ratchet strap top and bottom might be job. Bolts can be hard to work with if they are under pressure. Great design.
  9. As close to 1 M3 as you will get
  10. Not really, dont most people sell per 'loose' cm3 anyway, as in thrown loose in to a bag or trailer...
  11. Thanks Pete. Something like this then I suppose(The £80 version) Testo 606 material moisture, temperature and humidity meter It mentions certain species, but I presume for firewood purposes, it would be okay for all?
  12. Pete, you obviously know your stuff, so could you recommend a good model/brand to buy?
  13. Never heard of the 'fun' before, yet judging by google they have a following.. Homepage-Fun
  14. I had a 1998 Skoda pickup in white (ive seen them in a few colours) a good few years back. 1.9 dsl. A nippy little runaround, but I wouldnt consider them a serious work vehicle, they wont take much weight.
  15. I presume Scraggs is trying to cut down on handling, split straight into vented barrow bag, leave to dry, next stop customer! I'd imagine they would be a bit of a pain to fill from a processor though.
  16. These look good value at £2 plus delivery.. NEW JUST IN - 500mm x 500mm x 1000mm Barrow Bags | eBay
  17. Not so sure.. A guy not too far from me has a Bilke for processing ash thinnings, but he recently bought a TR70 for the branches.
  18. I presume it would have to be 8ft wide really.
  19. What approx does a full 1m3 bag weigh?. (fresh and seasoned)
  20. Whats the ideal vehicle for delivering .75 or 1m3 bulk bags? Would a transit be too small?
  21. How do you load the transit?
  22. Thats not a 674, its a newer model! 684 or 784 maybe. This is a 674... Google Image Result for http://www.bjtractors.co.uk/images/tractor042.jpg 784..... http://www.mascus.com/image/product/large/c528c3c5/International-784-tulossa,dd1fa9d9.jpg
  23. I presume your cabstar is a tipper?
  24. Thanks for the replies so far Rob, what do you use for delivering and how many 1m3? bags can you take at a time? My problem is any sheds I have are just open on one side. I presume you would need a pretty open shed (preferably roof only) to dry them?
