  1. I was going to going to suggest a ladder , but where’s the fun in that:001_tongue:
  2. I Cheers for that drew, good bit of exercise for the gray matter, still trying to work out how it works/ advantages yet, ect.. err im guessing you pull from under the HC? one obvious thing is there’s nothing to interfere with your VT, Anyway hopefully see you at jonsie’s, pick your brains a bit then, got a couple of questions about NZ/Aspnldh, plus take to that other 5m of your hands,
  3. I saw a program ages ago about a guy studying Orangutans , he had a system involves shooting a crossbow with a line on it across to another tree, so he could move about the rain forest canopy without getting down,. it never really explained how he tied off though, I presume he had someone on the ground helping him, but the program made it look like he just fired and zip lined away. personaly providing the trees not too far away, do like mark says, kick off with your strop ready to swing round the tree, or get someone/ two if your a fat …. to pull the end of your line towards the next tree, one other thing I’ve done is to bundle up the end of my climbing line and chuck it over a decent branch , lower than you, on the next tree then get a groundy /or two to take up the slack, rap it round the tree once, then tell them to let of gently, and descend to the other tree:001_smile:
  4. Back on thread, wat’s a o-rig? was wondering why loop in the pic could work any different to a splice? Ps Ill take a few metres off you drew, if you’ve got any spare, are you heading over for Jonsie’s bash?
  5. Too right.. Your welcome to try a bit off my 10mm:sneaky2: tried to word that better:001_smile:
  6. Indeed , it is as rare as rocking horse ….. I did manage to find some in Sydney, but only the 10mm stuff, haven’t tried it yet but doest feel anywhere near as flexible as the 8mm stuff, think that the next trip will have to be NZ
  7. I use the pantin and vt set-up, works well, although does fell a bit lopsided, thinking about buying a left footed one just to even things out , also been practising my foot looking recently, find it much more satisfying if you get a decent rhythm going, a lot to be said for the old school tec:001_cool:

  10. Thanks guys, Glad you like them, unfortunately not available in NZ. they're Custom made in the UK, Designed by the NHS Specifically for ski jumping, stainless steel frames and 3' thick Bullet-proof Pyrex lenses I have to be careful wearing them when climbing though , if the sun ever gets behind me, my rope will catch fire.
  11. Thanks for heads up kimtree, Seen a few things recently on the news about the crocks around Darwin but thought it was just propaganda, be there myself in a few days for a proper gander :001_tongue:but from what your saying they are a real threat at the mo, I understand that there about to lift the hunting ban as the population has swelled in the past few years. and the crocks are getting more curious/less scared of humans. I had a friend who visited Kakadu a couple of years ago, and he said you can swim in some of the rivers and waterfalls that are regularly checked, he even went swimming at night, don’t think ill be doing that in a hurry, but is that not still true? Also back on the Arb tip,. where’re you guys based, would be nice to pay a visit, see how arb’s done on the other side of the world
  12. Mind you, saying that. I might try get on the circuit next year, once I mastered all this newfangled technology just for entertainment value if nothing else
  13. Have seen a couple of comps, so got a bit of knowledge, its just the execution I struggle with, pluss I hate having a audience

  15. I’ll be up for it, when I get back from Ozz, just got myself a new rope guide, and eager to try it out. Maybe take a trip up to Alborough and have a go on the 120ft plane, the guy’s talking about in another thread:thumbup1:
  16. Sounds cool, if I have the time I’ll try get there . Love to see a real Tasmanian Devil, , not sure how nice it will be in there winter though.. maybe I’ll save that for the next vist Know what you mean about walking into a wall. I went to Deli a couple of years ago ,when I got out the airport it felt just like that and it was in the middle of the night:scared1:
  17. not usure how Much AP will fit in my back pack, but I’ll see what I can do:001_smile:
  18. cheers chaps, Wouldn’t’ mind popping to Tazzy if I have the time (only got a month) supposed to be a lot like NZ and it’s also home to the Eucalyptus regnans, some of the tallest tree’s in the world, think the sky walk there ,features in Sherbrookes Tree Sevice’s Video. I would post it but not sure how:blushing:
  19. I’m off Australia in a few days for a well deserved holiday , flying in to Darwin, and slowly making my way down to Sydney, was wondering if anyone could suggest any interesting sites/ tree’s to visit along the way, also I hear that Arbs score quite high on points for immigration at the mo ,so I wouldn’t mind paying a visit to some firms, just see how you guys do it and to see how I’d fair, any suggestions? plus Anyone know where about I can get me some armour pruss? ps. what's the best way to fend off a Crocodile, hear that the NT's full of them:scared1:
  20. I think the saw was trying to tell him something!
  21. I was told ,when I brought my Cannon Ixy ,in Japan, a few years ago that the Powershot was actually a better camera and it was cheaper. was just a bit blucky for me, plus not so shiny. still think my Ixy/Ixsus takes pretty good photo’s though
