  7. Not generating much interest Andy , maybe you should tell um about your big red thingy:001_smile:
  8. No wuckkers andy, (0zzy term) I'll get on to it:thumbup:
  9. are they the same as these or the Airstreems your mates are wearing?
  10. Shame:thumbdown: Been looking for this tread, well done for bumping Jill, Had a word and will keep robin hood outa the way, so if anybody wants a climb there more than welcome, would be good to have some people in the trees If you could bring a disclaimer form like you had last year would be handy Andy, save me writing a new one Anyway let me know if anyone’s keen, I’ve god Friday off so may even clear some dead wood outa the oak for yall . Will Come in handy for a Barbie anyway Cheers LSD
  11. in the process of stocking up on some new gear and saw these on offer at HB, just wondering if they’re any cop. I’ve done a quick search, but didn’t find any info, got a bit distracted looking at old threads I’d missed, so thought it would be quicker to ask, Also how do people rate the Mata arborsafe helmet, look pretty good, are they any better than a vertex or stein? Thanks LSD
  12. I like that one, was wondering what to do with the ring off my Tree mo:thumbup1:
  13. I think VT is a excellent hitch and it’s what I use, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody. You have to keep check on it, ( becomes automatic pretty quickly after a few slips) plus it becomes a bit of an obsession, constantly trying out different combinations of cord, lengths raps and braids, but that’s what I like about it, keeps life interesting, In fact in my company (about 100+ cutters) I’m think I’m the only one who has the patience to use it. Most people just want to turn up earn there money and go home, don’t have time/or care about trying out new stuff. fair play to them and a few of them are better climbers than I‘ll ever be, As for branch rolling haven’t attempted one of them in 3 years, far too painful, let alone with a VT/hc setup all that stuff digging into you,. if worst come to worse, and I had to do ,I’d probably just use my lanyard, clipped between the two Ds on my leg loops. If that make sense. Anyway sorry to here about this guy and hope he makes a full recovery, and maybe this thread will help it not happen again:thumbup1:
  14. Yep that’s what I do at the moment, Just sometimes forget to twist the krabs round before going up No biggy:001_huh: The main thing I was interested in, is the Rapide and if it was worth the purchase, (got one coming in the post now) but anyhow thanx for pic. Looks like the sentinel doesn’t hold the line as tidy as a o but I might it a try anyway, Is that Marlow hitch cord your using for a main line, and don’t you have trouble with interfering fishermans? (how dodgy does that sound) As for getting Karbs stuck, nearly broke my collar bone once from yanking on a fatboy to hard (sounds even dodgier) :blushing:haha!!!
  15. Your right not much of a problem at all , I should take a few more seconds setting up my system b4 I going up, poor preparation = p##s poor performance, and a lot less swearing.. Was just checking if the sentinel is fit for purpose that's all and thanks to Heads up, seems like it is, so Ill give it a try, sorted that is until I throw and it comes down and smacks me in the face then at least I'll have something propa to swear about:cussing:
  16. I find that when the setup is hanging loose, the ultra o can work its way round somtimes, just think a sentinel might work better
  17. Is the rapide better at paying out line if you climb above your anchor point?
  18. Is it worth the upgrade? also thinking about replacing my ultra O on the working end with a different biner. can find it a bit confusing somtimes, don't which way the gate is set, any suggestions? was thinking about a sentinel.
  19. Hello justin was wondering if your coming over to weird and wonderful wood this year? if so, I've may have a bit of a list for you? if not when are you next in Suffolk?

  20. Thanks for all the advice guys and for helping me make up my mind, Need to some new boots, hard hat. (Maybe harness), anyway, Know first hand how funny customs can be over a bit of mud down there, even when it comes from there own country Good Idea about wearing your stuff on the the plane, I’ll have to whip it off pretty fast if I stopover in Thailand though, As for not doing it a long time ago, know exactly what you mean, been travelling quite a few times before , unfortunately after 5years back in the uk , I’ve become a creature of habit again, got used to having my friends around me, my pad, furniture 42’ plasma exc.. plus the uk’s not all bad, infact been pretty dam nice this week, I always get a bit apprehensive before stepping into the unknown, but at least this time I’m going somewhere they speak the same language (well almost) . and like you say as soon as I get there, I’ll think what the f..was I ever worried about.
  21. Thinking of jacking my job pretty soon and heading to NZ , was wondering if my NPTC tickets will be recognized down there.. and If not what will I need to start working legally, Also what’s the price difference like on climbing equipment/PPE some of my gear is looking a bit tired and trying to work out if it’s worth buying new stuff over hear and shipping it over, or wait until I get there? Cheers LSD
  22. pretty sure but the green and black stuff your getting will be 8mm, the 10mm stuff I got in ozz is blue and black , got a little piece off 8mm ,a while ago, and it works just fine on my 13mm line with a VT/ HC, self tends and locks every time. don’t think the 10 feels as good, but still yet to try it out on a decent climb , do you a strait swap if you want to try bit though? Drew if your wondering about prices you should compare the market, check out the price differences between the OP rope and the OP E2E in the uk:ohmy: you could be rich man:smoker:
  23. Ahh Extendable bridge , got ya.. ps
  24. Aint that the same as the rope guide basic, without the plastic ring? Probably a lot cheaper though:001_smile:
  25. that’s exactly what I men’t Steve , but once , when I asked for bit off slack to land on a branch groundy go of the rope, and couldn’t grab it again .:scared1:weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee that’s’ why I added he bit of fiction to the equation
