  1. Nice thread to read through and glad it's had a happy ending, good on ya dude!
  2. That's pretty good money for a unskilled groundy, personally I'd get 2 at £50, then they could race each other
  3. Wtf, The only time I see people running site is when something's gone wrong..
  4. Personally think the cinch is a more versatile bit of kit (as well as cheaper) like the way you can attach/detach mid line and use it srt to get the full length of your lanyard (not sure if the positioner is designed to do that ), also you can use it as a belay if you inclined to do a bit of rock climbing, Think it works just as well as the art but recormend using the 10mm flashlight, runs pretty smooth even when it's filthy, pluss it's dynamic so got a bit more play if you ever finding yourself riding the steam:001_smile:
  5. I love my cinch, gonna miss it (new company legislation that I don't think it'll ever pass) Lefty as well, saw and snap on the right, also use the lever when using for work position srt with a thimble, very handy (if a bit lively)
  6. Good choice, Both can be easily lowered, (without a double snapper)if you don't want to damage your new investment buy simply throw lining anything above half the distance between the ground and the device then clipping a small bina round both lines and sending it up to catch it as it drops ITMS, easier to show you, but must be a thread about it on hear somewhere
  7. I had both and defiantly think the flexible eye on the pulley saver works much better / smother and you don't have to leave as much slack, but the retrieval clip isn't as good as the art one. So swings and roundabouts I guess
  8. Yep Bit redundant if you move on to srt, if it has too be the choice though defiantly go for the pulley saver, retrieves much easier
  9. I got a trango cinch and it's awesome on a lanyard chocking/srt cofig, but not sure if it'll work well on wire core as it only takes up to 11mm, and works by putting a kink in the line
  10. Cool chap looks like there's space for a couple of splices, not sure about fishermen's though, Recon I'll put a order in this week Cheers
  11. Hey jack, if you do go to Nz, fly air Nz, they give you a sport kit allowance, for about £20, make sure you keen you gear well, and declare it, there pretty hot on biosecurity other there
  12. To mutch curve on a boa, IMO, looking for a strait top, isc used to make one but can't seem to find it, Recon I'll try a large pear bull lock
  13. Just wondering is this beaner wide enough for a rope wrench with a pinto? struggling to find one wide enough to fit all the gubbins in
  14. Think what he's asking is what's going on in the last two photos dude? Geuss it's some kinda mid line anker, what's the tie off on the oval for, Just to lock the lines in place?
  15. Looks slightly better than my $25 K-mart special I brought for the arb camp.
  16. cheers ttman:thumbup1:
  17. cheers chap, had a regatta one from my old company, should have brought with me, but you sweat so much wearing it kinda makes it pointless, also has BTS written in mahoosive letters, not really the look i'm going for, had a look in some outdoor shops and stuff is dam expensive out here, like you say i'll weight till i get earning NZ dollar before i buy, Have you tried the caves at Waitomo? thinking of doing them next week ps, sorry for slight derail.
  18. how did it go Atree? may be up for interview myself soon
  19. was wondering if any of you Auckland boys could recommend a place to get a good waterproof, also if you anyone wants to meet up for a bit off a clamber “show me the ropes” or at least lone me some, brought a shiny new harness and a pullysaver, before i flew out and quite keen to give them a try before interview, but don't have any rope
  20. been following this thread and just like to thank Taupotreeman, for taking the time and posting such useful info about NZ, not only on this thread but some of the old ones i've posted on in the past, been a great help. just arrived in today and omg it's wet! still... not made of sugar time to start job hunting myself..

    Pimp my lanyard

Cheers for the input chaps, just got back from a muddy 5 days, in summerset . So sorry haven’t had a chance to reply:thumbup1: Looking for work in the north to start with, going to be pretty cold when I arrive but may well end up in Christchurch, if that’s where the work is, have spent some time in Japan before, so not adverse to shaky ground, although not at quite at the same magnitude, I have seen Joe’s on the smooth climbing thread, that’s what inspired me to have a go. was pretty easy to do really, I like the idea of the pipe but one good thing about this one is that it isn’t a closed unit, so if it does bind you can easily loosen it up/turn the stopper knot and if something horribly wrong, you can easily put the rope back on the spool, Ps thanks for offer about info one nz, I know a couple of people out there, but obliviously the moor the merrier. If you did that you’d need a strong enough spring to pull you up the tree It does retract through the hitch, although not as reliably, that’s why I was playing round with different hitches e.g. the Knut in the pic, (bad enough at getting my main line to self tend now I’ve got 2 to contend with) I’ve got a positioner laying in the bottom of a box somewhere maybe I’ll give that ago anyway got some ideas for the mk2 and know an inventor who lives pretty close, he’s done everything from stunt work to robot wars, if I have the time before I go may run up and see him.

Would say move to sunny suffolk, if there wasn't so many tree cutters here already, part of. The reason i'm going to nz, mind you half of them would run to the hills, (if we had any) when they saw your setup rolling into town:biggrin:
