  1. Just wondering what are the things that really get on your tits with a job/work? This week I had two jobs with trees on old hedgelines. All had to be climbed and dismantled before I felled them. When I started the felling and logging I kept hitting nails, wire etc and god I got seriously pi**ed off, sharpening every 5 mins is not much fun!! Whats are peoples dislikes?

    Sad News

Indeed. Not good. Just shows how close the line is and none of us know if we will walk back in the door that evening. Climb safe all!
  3. I use the Husqvarna Typhoon jacket. Quite pricy but best i`ve ever had
  4. Thou shall always think, know and tell everyone how much better your job is than theirs! Thou must never use a saw from Lidl (i saw it, was £20!!!)

  7. Yeah nice job mate. I do a bit now and again when needed. Handy for rebuilding/repairing whan a tree has been growing into a wall and pushing it over etc. Its like everything though, practice makes perfect. Im still pretty slow aswell but 2 yards a day is pretty good, they really say £100 a metre in a 4-5ft standard wall. Funny how people in this industry can turn their hands to most anything......
  8. Dropped out of Uni after 2 years of a degree. Decided to go to Brazil to work. Needed money for the flight etc so got a job with a tree surgeon who had worked for my folks. Started burning branches and general groundworks. Then got into climbing within a few months and after the 7 months i did the boss offered me a full time place after Brazil. Made foreman after 2 years and worked there for 4 and a half years in total. Went solo this year and loving it. Its more than a job but a lifestyle and its def for me.
  9. I dropped a husky 340 into a river while running. Pulled it out and it started first time!
  10. I`d be up 4 a drink or 2. Just let me know where and when!
  11. I love my Huskys for all general work. For tree surgery however I think the Sthil are better in regards to climbing work and felling big trees. Whats the public opinion?
  12. Totally agree with take down technique. Much easier and safer with pegs IMO. Dont want to take the point off the spikes if you can help it!
  13. Slug pellets in someones tea. Induces vomiting and sh**ting within a minute and not very nice. My old boss did it to this huge guy and he was not well at all!
  14. Your a lucky guy that top didnt split down the way:scared1: Good luck to you though and hope nothing like that happens again!

  16. Big respect to the guy who hit the top. Guy Grieve lives near where am from. He gave up a great job and lived in Alaska for a year. The book is Call of the Wild and a great read. Top man! Crazy stuff
  17. My first year in 5 that I am not cutting xmas trees in Scotland. 35000 of the buggers, I tell you I dont miss it! Every time I see one it reminds me. Like xmas tree cutting syndrome
  18. Have an 02 plate. Great worker but had few problems. Timing chain, clutch and a couple of electronic problems. But all in all cant complain over the time I have had it. Pulls well, good off road(with bfgs) and would have another.
