Are the stays "guy ropes" for an existing pole to accommodate new power lines coming off the pole in a different direction? If so, would it not be a small increase to your annual wayleave payment?
  3. Be careful. Google is not daft and specifically treats hidden stuff as suspicious. If it decides your site is seen as deliberately engineering search engine placement then the site will be blackballed. There is an appeal process but this is tortuous. Trust me. The very best advice is to just build an good, honest site for the benefit of your customers rather than search engines. Ensure that you do fill in all the appropriate meta tags, alt tags and title tags but assume anything 'artificial' will be spotted and the consequences can be disastrous. 4. Is it fair to compare the firewood end product with the raw material cost? How does it get from being a trunk into sawn, split, seasoned, bagged and delivered firewood?
  5. If you are selling 2 cubic meters (3 x .66) for £75 you definitely need to stop and take stock of what you might be missing out on.
  6. Anyone tasted Birch Syrup? Is used as per maple syrup or used as the basis for brewing?
  7. Sorry for the derail but at the foot of the article he talks about having a great season collecting and boiling sap. Any ideas on why and what for?
  8. Woodland Craft Shop: A gallery of individual hand crafted items for sale - ideal for a unique gift or a one off present you can list any unique piece of work for a flat fee of £2.50 which is good for higher priced items and isn't time limited.
  9. I have one such trailer coming up for sale - not as big but has a hiab which can be powered by 12v battery (reservoir and pump are on the trailer) or direct from another source like a tractor. It hasn't been used for two years primarily because it is trapped at the wrong end of the shed. Moves are underway to clear everything out of the way so I can get at it. I will stick it on the Classifieds as soon as it surfaces.
  10. Here's a photo of my mid-life crisis actually happening... A great bike but a bit like riding a two wheeled land rover. Bought new and sold for quite a bit more than it cost so that can't be bad and I don't suppose that happens so often with Jap bikes.
  11. Really sorry.
  12. I have a good compressor so that isn't an issue. II also have 3 phase if people think limiting the portability is worth the gain in useability.
  13. Arbtalk is blessed with some top class fabricators so rather than make a silly mistake.... If you were in the market for a plasma cutter which one would you go for and why? Also what are your thoughts on the multi role cutters/mma/tig? Thanks in advance.
  14. I have a small pile of willow, pop and conny lengths in the yard. "Mates" are very welcome to help themselves but they must transport it, use their own saw and fuel to ring it, split it and store it for seasoning. It is a genuine offer but one that no one has taken up yet. It just helps them 'see' where the value of firewood actually is. Back to the thread.... as we buy in cord it is much easier to price; nothing at all leaves the yard for less than cost + 10%. Why on earth would I sell it for less?
  15. Poor thing. Could you not go a bit easier on the old girl especially as she has had open heart surgery?
  16. No one could ask any more of you. There most be some shame felt asking £15 for 8p bolts etc etc; the tortuous supply chain just seems to be a bit of a lame excuse that is trotted out to somehow justify the unjustifiable.
  17. Pete, I am really sorry but this sort of 'not me guv' really winds me up. As a customer I see the Sales Staff as the customer interface for the product I am buying. This interaction should be a two way street and sales staff should take on board feedback and feed it back into the management chain / decision makers. It is really not on to just sell it and walk away shrugging shoulders. I would turn your closing comment around... "Don't be too hard on your suppliers, if you want them to continue to be available as a supplier....." If you want to continue as a supplier please listen to what is aggravating your loyal customer. Rant over and nothing personal; it is just something that really winds me up.
  18. It will be even more when Scotland goes it alone.
  19. well it should help stop you slipping off the seat when you have had a few.

    MB Trac?

    Cool bit of kit.
  21. Madness
  22. I agree with the comments about being indirectly caught up in what would have otherwise been a fair (if slightly misguided) article but..... My big worry would be his offer to name and shame. As this may be a bit of a grenade with the pin out, I would most definitely have someone take him up on the offer and record what is said. At that point you will be able to clearly know if it is personal. If it is then take the recording to the editor and see where that takes you. Solicitors are a last resort unless you have money to throw away and the patience of a saint.
  23. If Fracking for gas doesn't take off then one of the 'easy' options may be tapering off the menu quickly. Around here Red diesel went through the 80p barrier for the first time last week so it is a quickly changing equation to wrestle with. I think the ability to have a degree of energy self sufficiency will be enviable and wood heat will always be a way to convert your time into a worthwhile cash equivalent should you so wish. For me the exercise is a welcome bonus.
  24. Very nice. Waxoyled from new. All service documentation and manuals. Toolbox with original tools etc etc. Very pleased. Bounces about a touch if it isn;t loaded but I will try lower tyre pressures... when it stops raining of course.
