  1. Do a search for a "local firewood supplier" in your area. Whatever directory, business listing service, yell etc that comes top is the place to advertise!
  2. These were done by Simon McMinnis from Blackpool last weekend for the Mere Brow Giant Pumpkin Show. He is carving a 400lb pumpkin live 9am - 5pm at Barton Grange garden Centre this Saturday if anyone is passing...
  3. If you want to carve really big one, these two are still available (collection only PR4 6 area)...
  4. Bet mine's bigger!
  5. Hammers IF you have the horses to turn them under load
  6. Alder is a good second choice for wet ground with rabbits. They really don't like the taste and let the saplings get established.
  7. I'm all for it, the more people who grow and process their own fuel will (eventually) become ambassadors for good quality wood fuel suppliers... they are unlikely to ever become competitors and they will fully understand the costs and hard work involved. They will educate all their friends and associates about just what is involved. I cannot see anyone who has grown, harvested and processed their own wood to knock it out a £50 a cube!
  8. Great photos - cool kit!
  9. Morso. Unbelievably efficient.
  10. Alan Johnson is the name but I cant find any contact details. Just west of Dunscar on the A565. There is also another chap who does similar work in a big unit behind Causeway Garage at Rufford on the A59
  11. 2 x .65 cubic meter bags (tonne bags) or a spud box ????
  12. There is a first class agri eng in Tarleton. He builds all the weird and wonderful harvesting rigs you see in the fields. I will try and get contact details today.
  13. If I had a tanks that big I would definitely not be buying from a UK pump but on the spot market at Rotterdam. It made me think though... I remember reading that the leisure boat users were the first to be targeted in the EU "Red Reform". I did a search and found this from the RYA http://www.rya.org.uk/infoadvice/regssafety/reddiesel/Pages/reddiesel.aspx If you have the time to read this especially about the declaration of split between propulsion and heating you will see just how this country is dissapearing up its own a***. Would it be possible to make a tax system any more complicated? As I said I can see a brave soul standing up and seeing this boleaux and doing away with red and all the complications that go with it. No refunds, no enforcement, no nothing - just white - take it or leave it. Food prices will rise? End of the world as we know it? Please remember that red went from 45 to 65p in the blink of an eye (a 44% rise!!!!) and life went on.
  14. According to our supplier we have been buying the 'new' red for the last 12 months. We now order less more often to keep it turning over but this doesn't change how old it is before we get it delivered. Best of a bad job. Its a good point about emergency gennys... what should you use? Back to the title of the thread, I think its days are numbered as doing away with red would prevent all the misuse and cost of enforcement in one go.
  15. Good review. Thanks for taking the time to post it.
  16. Ahhh I see. I now feel guilty of having a cess pit mind when all the time it was a little fluffy bunny.
  17. ... and must be collected within 24 hrs.
  18. I guess there must be a point where it changes but if I start with a trunk, each time I process it down the volume of the pile grows in size.
  19. I will cut them to whatever length they ask for. All part of the service and in any case I find that the smaller the log the less cord you need to use to make up the volume of a loose load. More air gaps???
  20. I gave my petter driven Liner a rebuild last year. Inc new bearings, new belts and a new tipped blade so I know what you mean. Still if it does amother 50 - 60 years then it should have been worth it. Starts 1st turn and runs all day on a mug of claret. I wouldn't be without it.
  21. Certainly got mine! I am so looking forward to the next photos when hopefully this fine piece will be seen in a wholly different light.
  22. Not surprised. I would like to be able to do that too if my back was up to it!
  23. Love the table. Good effort.
  24. Is it just me or........ nah can't be.
  25. Billy, we don't do enough to get any savings from a processor but, if you believe it will pay for itself in 2 years, it did make me wonder what is the £££'s/cube is just for the processor costs (not running costs or labour) and how many cubes it is good for.
