With logs with large knots, i always split down through the middle of the knot first. With bent logs have the middle of the bend closest to the back of the splitter so as the wedge comes down it is pulled into the center of the wood. Sent from my Galaxy arse using tupping talk. The vent covering bows out from the stove, so even when it is closed there are large air gaps around the vent. I have padded the vent with a nut and a couple of washers to force it against the stove, and from a better seal. I am now ditch the vent all together, and build a propper one.

I have got the Ecoburn 7, and it is pants. It is a nightmare to keep in over night, due to the naff nature of the vent. The vent design is not very good and i had to modify it in an attempt to keep the stove in. Aarrow have not been particularly helpful, and if the stove had not been plumbed in i would have probably taken it back.

Billets stacked with a tarp over the top will half the moisture content in about six months. You then have the advantage of being able to cut them into what ever lenght the customer want. Hopefully 57hp The hydraulics are definitley better than the mighty Nuffield. The ram cycle on the splitter is about half the time with the Zetor, but it is 20 years younger.

Just going by the ash and elm that i have been cutting and splitting, that was felled last October, moisture content 35 %. Logs have been stored off the ground with the tarp to keep the worst of the weather out. That be why.
