    Given the shortage of softwood in the next 20-30 years, why in gods earth would you want to remove your softwood ? You sound like you have a good mix, which was planted for a reason. Keep thinning and your kids will reap the benefit.

    Everything i hate about tree work, combined in one tree: Dead, leaning, windy, overhanging a static caravan. The tree came down with no dramas, and i walked away with a endorphin high.
