  1. A: Is this a fung, the crystal one amongst the lichen B:Any ideas?
  2. Really good show, met lots of interesting people. The logging championships were impressive, especially the hot saws. The no sleeping in vehicles was a pain, so spent 2 nights in the car park. The Rotatilt stand let me play, and I was sold until I worked out that I could only lift 100 kg with it on the end of my digger. ( I won't mention the £24k price tag)
  3. Supatracks work well. Quick to put in, and quick to remove providing you haven't lost the tool.
  4. Giant Polypore, probably not a good prognosis for the tree.
  5. There is nothing that will remedy that level of canker, other than a chainsaw.
  6. Slime mold, this web site is quite good for I.D. Slime Moulds and allies | NatureSpot WWW.NATURESPOT.ORG.UK
  7. Making a wet Alder carr wetter with a series of dams. Got the digger properly stuck. Debogging.mp4
  8. We are working in an Alder carr, making it wetter. Some trees are covered in Alder tongue, but the majority have none.
  9. The more i read about lichens the less i understand. Way more complicated than just Algae/ fungi symbiosis. Its good when nature makes you go WTF.
  10. @David Humphries Ascocoryne cylichnium? but i don't have a microscope to compare the spores
  11. Generally with BT lines we undo them from the top of the pole and drop the line. Fell or dismantle the tree and reassemble. If the line gets broken get the customer to ring BT to report a fault. We won't do this if the line is supplying loads of houses. Power lines always have a yellow sign warning of death on them.
  12. I kept coming back to the Purple Jellydisk, but it didn't seem to fit. But i can not find anything else similar. Cheers @David Humphries
  13. I give up, any thoughts? Very small, gowing on sweet chestnut. Grovey purple to.
  14. Have you produced any viable seed? Some of those would be suitable for a couple of my sites.
  15. Lifting and turning, no BT lines were hurt in the makig of his video.
  16. I will be there for 2 days
  17. I have just got one of these for my Doosan 63, so far so good
  18. Good job i only want 24" 😁
  19. I think that is what I will end up doing, it also means i can use them for other things
  20. Back to the drawing board . Next option is 2 sleepers parallel 8" apart, with 3× 24" scaffold poles drilled through and bolted. The tracks on the digger are 7' wide, so i can either track across or along them. That will also work out the cheaper option.
  21. I think I will try a few of these. Used Ground Protection Mats - Safe Trak Mat - SAFE-CYCLE SAFE-CYCLE.CO.UK Ideal for moving heavy machinery, creating temporary driveways and parking areas and protecting ground in various... I will splice some polyprop loops in the middle so i can easily move them around with the digger . I might make a few out of sleepers and scaffolding poles, but they will be very heavy.
