  1. It's definitely one of the March flies, but I lack the inclination to look at its genitals and study the vein pattern of its wings.
  2. Unidentified March fly on a Wood Anemone, and Wort (Blueberry)flowers
  3. Things moving fast this time ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ4CIA-41jQ
  4. The small pruning wounds below the graft line are where the root stock has started to grow. Very common, just keep an eye out for any more shoots below the graft, and cut off any that appear. Eventually they will callus over and disappear.
  5. When i used to use the Nuffield of power (two wheel drive) to skid out timber, i used loops of chain around the tire and rim joined with a bolt and nylock nut on the underside of the rim. Made a massive difference to traction. You could do the same, but you would have to drill holes through the rim for the bolt.

  11. If the tree is still standing after the recent storms, then it is probably fine. Hollow tree means good bat potential. I would be encouraging the kids to play elsewhere, and let the tree it do its thing. Its all about risk, driving your car every day Is about 1 in 3-400 risk of having an accident. Being struck by a tree is greater than 1 in half a million.
  12. @gdhHave you tried Coed y Cardi or Steve Lloyd.

  14. Much underrated 3 ply, and many uses.
  15. It was good being able to reach over the root plate of the smaller tree, cut the stem with the shear and knock back the root plate in one action. The smaller ones often have more twang then the larger one.
  16. Storm Eunice, I haven't seen a wind blow site like this for a while. The Doosan earning its keep, making a difficult job soo much easier, and safer.
  17. Many half fallen trees over the last couple of days
