  5. Yeah it's gotta be a one handed affair by just pulling the tail. I use a vt n hc on mine, works a treat and not expensive. Hey Rich, if you're only using it for rec climbing and dosh is an issue atm then just take your time, use it and the prussic will soon dig in and grip. Sounds like you just need to bed the two together to me.

  12. Way back in the archives of Arbtalk you'll find a thread about a new climber switching from prussik to VT. First attempt he threw his line over the first limb of a large tree, pulled himself up, tried to bear roll, failed, then sat back without dressing the vt....Wallop, hit the deck.
  13. Spot on! Ten out of ten Mr.Fox......
  14. Leave him alone and let him climb how he feels the most confident. No need to rush him into more advanced techniques such as the VT and side strop combo if he aint ready for it.
  15. You looking grey and old. Is that you Johnny?.......

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
