  1. More than likely nicked to order, and equally likely a lot of this stuff is on shipping containers within 24 hours. Its nuts everybody has to be in a constant flap about gear going missing, but all the time sentences handed out are just a couple of years (if they ever actually catch anyone), where's the deterrent? On Facebook earlier today, a woman in Kent said that last night a couple of scumbags tried to take a Shogun parked outside; when confronted by the husband they casually sauntered off, saying "we'll come back and stab you".
  2. Sorry to hear that, we are in the same area. Will let you know if anything heard locally
  3. Thanks Spud. I had searched for you in the members list and thought that your user name began with (oddly enough) Spud, but didn't see it there. If I get around to getting any of my saws tweaked I'll drop you a PM
  4. What is Spud's user name? I may need a consult, cheers
  5. Ok, sounds like it might be time to PM Spud
  6. Ok cheers. Am I right in assuming that generally weakening compression is most likely to be knackered rings, and the pot is only going to get wrecked if the saw is pushed beyond the point it should have been repaired?
  7. The luminosity is actually quite good, I don't know if these are Tritium or something else but you see what you need to in the dark just fine. I can post a pic of this later- I thought about selling mine to help finance another saw, but probably a daft move really
  8. Lol, I sell used 4x4 on the side so I realise- the error was on my part, I meant to reply on OP quote, not the most recent, ie., yours
  9. A mate has a fairly well used 560XP that before too long will need a another barrel, and I can possibly buy it on that spares / repair basis. Can anyone fill me in on projected costs on this, cheers.
  10. I reckon a decent watch is one extravagance a bloke can allow himself-I'm not into hobbies and work 6-7 days a week, so why not, eh. I bought a SMW (Swiss military watch) divers a couple of years back, nice and chunky but not massively oversized, and will last a lifetime, you can get these for under £300
  11. I haven't owned a Subaru but only hear good things about them. I reckon a Forester or Legacy are a good choice. If Subaru produced diesels on older cars (I don't even know if they do currently)I'd have had one by now
  12. All a misunderstanding i can see.. I'm just trying to make a living like anybody else and I'd be happy to pay you for any excess you have anyway? Let me know where you are and I'll borrow a trailer
  13. Yes, thats right- I have sold John a bag. As Mark said though, trade embargo or what? I don't follow what that has to do with you, or anybody else. As stated, i sell logs so that sounds like a pretty stupid comment frankly.
  14. In the tree game but not interested in doing logs...? If you are within 30 miles or so of Staplehurst give me a bell if you have surplus hard or softwood, anything considered but particularly the usual hardwood firewood species
  15. Been using them now since summer, and for what they cost they are hard to fault. Full chisel on my 550XP makes short work of just about anything, and they actually don't need sharpening that much more than any other chain.Well done Northern Arb (I wasn't aware of any supply problem tho)
  16. Looks good, and with enough youtube hits he can possibly make some beer money from ads too
  17. Trying to find the booking print out- I'm pretty sure mine is a Cessna type thing, I reckon your folks are well heeled...
  18. A half hour flight in a two seater light aircraft, you get to take the controls briefly (until they realise what a menace you are, then promptly take them back)
  19. Feel for you, I was in bits when I lost my German Shepherd a couple of years back. Dogs have an inexorable link with us that no other mammal has- it makes me physically sick when people mistreat of fail to look after them. Give another dog in need a good home
  20. Lamberhurst Engineering will probably match a lot of prices from dealers further afield, no need to drive right over to Honey's- a decent range there IMO
  21. For 5K or under go for the best Isuzu Rodeo or Hilux you can find, or if you want European, a Ford Ranger. I've had dozens of pickups, mostly Hilux but the 2004 Rodeo I currently have is easily the nicest thing I've driven, and one of the most economical- you can get a genuine 30mpg easily. They are also chain driven, no timing belt to snap and will do spaceship mileage. If you are going to be carrying a lot of gear and decide to go for a single cab, you will need a decent tool vault but then obviously you are going to sacrifice some of the load space you opted for with the single; doubles are a lot more practical if the truck is going to be used for anything ever, other than work and the single has so little cabin room they get a bit ridiculous if you have dogs, saws, kit bags and Christ knows what else.Deciding on which is the toughest call as a double cab load bed only takes at best 1.2 cube of wood- entirely depends on what you need to be doing with the truck?
  22. I think it's possibly fair comment to think that more and more clients want to retain wood. If they don't intend to process / burn it, the neighbour, uncle Fred or some other individual they know will take it instead; with more and more wood stoves being installed by the day, probably not that surprising. And why not?'Till they realise they will need to buy a saw, maul, followed by a few hours of sweaty labour, then the appeal may wear off...
