1. I'm considering trying to cobble together enough for a mobile sawmill, get trained up and go out as hired operator. Don't want to thin down business for others in my area, but there isn't much work about and I'd like to earn some decent money, if only on a part time basis. Does this sound feasible, given the considerable outlay?
2. Blown over in last 12-24 months. Buyer only wants cord apprently to cut his own logs, (so possibly wants it dirt cheap), so time of felling / drop not too critical. Appreciate the price estimate anyway, thanks
3. I suggested this kind of thing when we crossed paths a few weeks back, but didn't get any further contact from you?
4. Trying to get shot of a load of windblown sweet chestnut, and though post and rail is do-able at some point, a local guy (East Sussex) has just asked how much I can do a cord for? With more orders to follow. I'm not overly familiar with pricing so can someone give me an idea, cheers
5. I Have had recent work in Medway towns area (will travel, I am in Cranbrook) but demand is lean around here, let me know if I can help you at all, forestry / arb / woodyard anything, thanks
6. A little incident has left my Husky with a flattened and snapped chain brake, damaged top cover and a muffler about 1/3 the size it should be. Anybody got any spares, bank account can't take much more punishment at the mo...
7.
James, I have noticed you are living very close by, no idea if on occasion you need labour but I have some groundie exerience, and I'm starting to produce firewood locally. my number is 07808 738097 if i can offer my services, regards Phil

8. I agree; common sense tells you that given another decade or two availability of standing wood (particularly here in the south east), will diminish. Doesn't matter how much you try to preserve existing stands or replant, demand for wood is too high
9. I have CS31 set up with Mick Evans in Kent (though likely training will take place in East Sussex), and looks like I am going to be in Spain working at that time, which I can't turn down. Hence if anyone has an employee or there is anyone in Kent /East Sussex requiring 31, let me know and you can take my res, this is better than letting Mick down. Please let me know asap if suitable for anyone, cheers Phil
10. OK, thanks for that- looks like something can be cobbled together for sensible money
11. I've seen a few posts here and there about putting together biomass boiler powered kilns out of storage containers and similar. What kind of budget is required for the most basic version, if anyone can advise- i have only had recent access to stacks of chestnut and birch, but need income from the logs now, not next winter; hence the need for rapid drying. Is this a realistic way of drying out firewood in volume, or can anyone suggest any other ways of getting the moisture out fast, thanks
12. As said previously, circulatory stimulants are what you want and natural is the way to go-ginkgo, cayenne, ginger, there's all kinds of stuff you can take. But see someone qualified to diagnose it (herbalist), if you start mixing ginkgo with anything like aspirin unintentionally you might be in trouble. If it is bad you can get an op done called a thoracoscopic sympathectomy, I had this done years back and afterwards my mitts would heat a piece of steel up if held for five minutes.
13. I have a fair amount of experience with saws, certificated, all equipment and a 4x4 and looking for work coppicing / forestry, ground work on a chipper- I don't mind. Currently on occasional days with a tree surgeon, and helping to thin an overstood 76 acre local wood.
14. Fair comment, the greenstones do wear fast and you do need a decent mask-don't breathe the dust, its toxic.
15. If there is enough profit in each job, some blokes work the cost of a set of cheaper finger teeth into the price, depends what you are charging? Look on Ebay for the finger teeth, if you get a greenstone carbide grinding wheel from a tool merchants, sharpen dulled teeth yourself or you will be shelling out a small fortune. Apparently this type of tooth are as good as any of the more high performance pricier options around, but opinions are like ********, everybody's got one. trial and error on the grind, I'd do steady sweeps across the whole diameter and work back
16. ..second that. Most Antipodeans would have a giggle at an ad like that, typical a "whinging Pom" had to put a dampener on it!
17. Gustharts seem to be one of the cheapest, helps if you order some other stuff tho.
18. Authorities tried to put the kybosh on tourists walking the route (double figure numbers fell off), but that's pretty much ignored. I'm looking forward to taking a look, but not until autumn. Some confusion about the height, some saying 700 ft, others 700 metres
19. Absolutely fantastic video...had the hairs standing up on my neck
20. If a cop here said the same thing he'd be collecting the P45...too bad bleeding heart lefties have taken over in the UK- that comment was spot on.
21. If you or anyone you know want to sell an Alpine, let me know please?
22. I have the Berenek book, in excellent condition and up for grabs if you are interested, save some money on retail
23. Forgot to mention that earlier- it is quite normal to replace the fuel filter after the first tankful or so of bio as it's a solvent bar none and strips all the cr** out of the tank, lines and system generally. If you get a loss in power or running problems after using bio, chances are thats the problem, time for a new filter
