  1. We went vat registered two years ago, and I was terrified we would loose loads of work. Makes it awkward with your repeat customers at first but most paid the increase and the new ones are none the wiser, and touch wood if you have a good client base and reputation you will still get plenty of work accepted. There however I'd no escaping the fact you will lose some jobs to non vat companies as some people will always want the cheapest job, such is life.
  2. Thanks for sharing, they say the simple ideas are the best
  3. What's going on with that second tree?!
  4. Love the clip of your little one at the start, my son often asks the same as I leave for work :-)
  5. Hi, there are a few different carbs for these, and if you mean the throttle return spring on the primer ball side of the carb you cannot buy it on its own from stihl, you have to buy the whole carb! However Steve aka spudulike on here reworked my old spring when it went and is still going fine -much cheaper than a new carb, also apparently there may be some aftermarket springs that fit, but you would have to ask Steve. Peter
  6. Thank you, will have a look on their website
  7. Hi guys, need to put one of the lads who works for me through his cross cut and maintenance ticket, then his aerial rescue and climbing. Always used arborventure training in the new forest in the past but unfortunately too far away now. Does anyone recommend anyone local to me (Chorleywood, Hertfordshire) have looked at Vale training services in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire - has anyone any experience of them. Any help much appreciated, Peter.
  8. Usually a few silky nicks or going stiff seems to be when they fail
  9. Amazing what you can do with old climbing lines that fail loler, our pull line (ex climbing line) often happily pulls transit and chipper when it gets stuck in grass /light mud, and hasn't broken yet. Shows how strong they really are!
  10. Sorry storing
  11. ......so what regulations are there about sorting the 200 litre drum at a yard - and getting it there from the local dealer?
  12. Run entirely on the softwoods my customers don't want to buy ;-)

  18. Got prices from tip master, brit tip and kmr engineering. Could not work out why tip master were so much more expensive, so went with kmr engineering (closer to me than brit tip) who did a great job, body and locker going strong and am very pleased with it - built to my spec. Only thing I have improved is some better locks on tool locker as standard ones not the best - sure this could be speced in a build though
  19. Three pairs even
  20. Had the pairs now, seem to last a year fine, most make it to 18 months but very rough by then, starting to leak on very wet days. Comfy til the end though :-)
  21. I do them for free once the customer has agreed for us to do the work (accepted our price), yes they could still pull out and use another contracter at the last minute, but this has not happened yet
  22. Hi, thank you for your detailed reply. I will be going to look again this morning Many thanks Peter
  23. Taking down an 80/85 foot fire damaged Larch today, result of a large garden shed fire, great views including the Beech we reduced a few months back.
  24. Thank you for the feedback Will speak with client tomorrow, and give them the options Forgot to say the tree is subject to a tpo, so will be have to justify any works what ever we do Peter
