  1. Update on the brown Oak. Local sawmill were not interested at all, even for nowt! Customer wouldn't let me keep the stems so I had to log it for him (sorry Rob D. and Tommer!). What a bloody waste. Got a few good bits for Ian to turn, and can go back for more. In reality, only one stem was deep brown, and whilst too big for my Alaskan had a fair few shakes and metal in it. Pics and vid to follow when I get to grips with my new IMpodWalkmanDiscphone or whatever. Big day for a two man team. Cheers Rich.
  2. Didn't realise you liked the new caps that much Stevie!.....
  3. Thanks for the background Chris. Think you may have a decent climber there!
  4. F***ing crazy! Firewood prices must be mental in Russia at the moment. Everyone has installed these new wood burners, you know.
  5. Lanyard and simple Prussic will do you to start with Gary. Nice and cheap. No point spending loads of dough on fancy stuff till you've tried out some different kit. You sound like a big lad, but the ropes and stuff will lift 2 tonne easy! Whereabouts are you man?
  6. Try and get some pics of that one mate!
  7. Good call Stevie. Think I need to fix my advertising first! Mind you, it's a quiet time of year, and I appreciate days off and chilling out a bit more.
  8. Thinking about it, it would be worth having one for willow alone! Chips easy without too much snedding, but nightmare rake up after a long drag! Mind you, there's lots of things I want......!
  9. I think in an ideal world I would have one in addition to my TW, I can easily see the advantage of not dragging brush, minimal tidy up etc. Stevie, is there a better transport method of carrying the chips out of gardens than a wheelie bin? One day.....
  10. Accept the fact you will feel cranky for a few weeks. Pretending you won't is bollocks. Concentrate on packing in for two weeks. After that it will become so much easier. You will get cravings, but they last less and less long. Put some old wet dog ends in a 35mm film can and have a snort if things get really bad! Good luck with it mate. It's worth it.
  11. We can only live in hope. Wonder where they live? At the moment....
  12. Compared them in France last year in a country store. Lass pointed to MS200T saying 'professional' and 192T saying 'amateur'. Says it all really. Nice and light, but IMO put the 192 money aside, save your pocket money for another week and buy an O2O. Sorry, MS200T.
  13. I love these little fellas as much as I hate dragging, but out of all my customers since last year who I have asked if they want to keep the chips, guess how many have said yes? Clue - it's less than one. I find getting most domestic trees on the deck a piece of p*** these days TBH. People are paying me to get rid of the arisings more than anything. I'm not knocking these great little machines, I just can't see where they would fit in with my client base.
  14. Loving every minute Rupe. And a hinge that Dean would be proud of!
  15. That is cracking work. BUT... He must have done it quickly so that the side he did first didn't outgrow the last side! I would love to have more customers who would be happy to pay for a spec that will last less than a year. That's not a dig at all, the work was spot on, great shape, and those babies are very difficult to tip reduce. Nice work. If you can get it!
  16. Top stuff Mike. Love the 'practicing' pic! I have a willow to take down today. Must be nearly 12'. May even need to use a chainsaw. Wheres my passport....
  17. Burning commercial green waste on site is totally legal, and is carried out by both councils and the Environment Agency on a regular basis round here. Problems arise involving transportation, constant nuisance causing smoke, and burning of prohibited material. As Andy has pointed out, there are NO specific laws relating to bonfires. Usually, problems will not occur when common sense is applied. This is when the problems start....
  18. IMO Stihl's virtual monopoly with the MS200T has led to them taking their eye off the ball. Loads of plastic bits compared to O2O (weight/cost saving), carb issues, longevity issues etc. Sort it out Andreas. It's not like you haven't put your prices up or anything. Would love to see a genuine contender wipe away that arrogant Germanic smirk....
  19. Cracking Oak Tony! Good work on a tough spec on your job I thought. Truck looks good, not sure about the colour.
  20. My Mam mentioned material shops. Might pursue that. As for tailors, this is Ashford, Kent mate. No call for pinstripe shell suits!
  21. Never lunge with my pants on mate....
  22. Blew the zip and crotch in my Stretch Airs, need to get in fixed locally and Jonesie will give me a credit note for the receipt (cheers Justin, top man!). The thing is, I can't find ANYWHERE that can do it locally (Ashford, Kent). All the dry cleaners who do 'repairs' say the material is too thick for their machines. Old fashioned seamstresses seem to have disappeared. Any suggestions welcome.
  23. Why not mate? Have you signed the Kyoto agreement then? How much did that little lot weigh do you reckon?
  24. Mans best friend alright. Good call on the chewing. That chunky little black lab ate both window winders and the gearknob in my truck. She's not even mine! Drew, I'm growing the perm out mate. I heard somewhere they'd gone out of fashion??????
