  1. Buy it Mozza. You can use it as a topper.
  2. I've always wondered, if you went for a 'stunt fell' instead of a dismantle, and the tree went sideways and wiped out a conservatory or something, would an insurance co. pay out, or would they argue that you should have taken more reasonable precautions?
  3. Not being funny mate, but you would be better off getting someone in to do the conifers who knows what they are doing and has the kit already. You could offer to labour, make a few quid yourself, keep your customers happy with quality work and potentially start a mutually beneficial arrangement with a local tree firm. I do this with a few of the lads who do gardening in my area and it has always worked well.
  4. 25m roll please bro. Donaghy must love Arbtalk!
  5. Ditto Rich, Adam. You been drinkin' bro?
  6. First off, there's no such thing as a NICE big repollarded pop. They are a shitehouse tree, full stop. 1) Chat to TO, explain intention, and your plan to persuade client to fell and re-plant with something decent. 2) Convince (arsehole) client that the above is the way forward (at premium price). 3) Obtain permission. 4) Fell (mucho £) 5) Replant decent heavy standard stocks (mucho £) 6) Happy TO, happy client, happy new trees, happy bank manager, happy days! God I should have been a politician......
  7. Same here. The second generation one doesn't have the twisting problem the first one did, but the velcro comes undone easier. Longer, stronger velcro please. I would rather lose a bollock than be without my Sawpod, though. And I bet they don't use that line in their next ad campaign!
  8. You don't ever want to go round the back of a tree Dave. That's where I go for a shite when I'm caught short.....
  9. I would say 9 or 9 1/2 Matt.
  10. Time-cost wise, my ladder is probably my most important tool! I am talking about access here, and occasional use from if tied in. I have heard a lot of ladder horror stories from incorrect use! My brother is a window cleaner, how he does 2nd and 3rd storey windows gives me the willies! If you choose to pretend that ladders have no place in the arb world, I will be more than happy to supply you with a nice shiny bow saw in exchange for your O2O.
  11. Sentinel ordered today Bob. I totally agree about not hanging an expensive saw from something suspect. Apart from me, that is...
  12. Thanks mate, I have a few of these. I find after they have been attached for a while they seize up after getting full of sap and crud. This means you can't whip the lanyard off instantly for some urgent, err, maintenance....
  13. Rich's job is art. Hama's isn't the worst ever by a long chalk. However, if I did such light (ie good) reductions, most of my customers would not be happy, and would feel they had not got enough tree hacked off for their money! Maybe I need some new customers! That's probably why I'm happier with removals, crown-cleaning etc. Even pro's on here argue the toss about what constitutes a 30% crown reduction. What chance has Joe Public got?
  14. More grist for t'mill... Euc reduction today, ivy clad stem, tough drop zone, constant drizzle and sleet. Went suprisingly well thanks in no small measure to the Airstreams. Best boots I have ever climbed in, and the Haix Trekker Mountains were pretty good. Rich - thanks for making my mind up for me! Justin - thanks for usual top service!
  15. Thanks Y. It looks shiny, so I will order one, as well as the Sentinel from you tomorrow!
  16. Thanks for input fellas. I'll try a DMM Sentinel and see how I get on. Can never have too many carabiners! That Morten looks good too. Anyone know a stockist / price?
  17. If it's really bad mate, you can get battery powered heated socks on tinternet. Extreme solution, mind.
  18. Thanks Bob. I'll look at that. Typing during your reply.
  19. Tried that. It's OK, but I could do without the extra couple of inches. And I never thought I'd get to say that!
  20. Right first time Lee, I reckon. I can see small firms digging in together on bigger jobs. Works for me.
  21. Can anyone recommend a small carabiner? Smaller the better, must be locking. I want to attach the strop to the hook on my O20 using a carabiner so I can take it off quickly for ground cutting, err, I mean maintenance. Can't seem to find a small crab on the usual suppliers web sites. Thanks.
  22. Like the 'yet' on the end there Justin! They are the future!
  23. Couldn't have done those Limes as fast without them Huck, and that's a fact. Don't get me started on people who work off them, mind. Scary. Access only here.
  24. This could be really useful at times. My route planning has never been the best - as you could tell at Jonesie's show Stevie! Good thread Drew.
