You can reduce the height, but the top will be flat, and look awful. The sides can only be lightly trimmed, so lightly you wouldn’t notice. I’d enjoy it while you can then fell it.

🤦♂️ Climb, obvs. Can’t straight fell because it might damage the pot. Crane or MEWP are an unnecessary expense in this situation though.

I’ve always found rings are a bit numb compared to purpose designed pulley like on the ART Ropeguide. As soon as I tried one I bought it immediately. Mine needs replacing now, and they are serious money. I can’t really justify it because I don’t climb as much these days. The Multisaver might tick a lot of boxes for me. On longer ascents I’d be on SRT anyway.

I doubt there is much more than firewood value in that butt looking at it. It would be nice to recover at least a few posts and boards, but you won’t know until it’s cut off the rootplate and delimbed. If it was near me I MAY do it wood for work depending on access, but don’t expect to make money from it. Sorry!

A fencer I know gifted me a brand new Husqvarna H25 chain because he’d bought the wrong size for his bar. It’s .325 15”, but is 1.5mm gauge rather than the 1.3mm gauge on the X-Cut I’ve been running on my 550. I’ve fitted it temporarily, and it seems to run smoothly on my fairly well worn X-Force bar. Is it compatible, or will the extra 0.2mm cause problems when the chain heats up?

Rope is pretty cheap. DF’s or Barrel knot in one end, stopper in the other, and you’re good to go.
