These diesel heaters seem to have some poor reviews mind, even the popular Hyundai one. Half the Vevo sales ones look like scam sites as well.

5kw will be fine Mike. I’m in here at the minute doing a bit of training / servicing / sort out for tomorrow / drinking, and it’s bearable with the 2kw electric.

With the gas left in it for REALLY quick heat?

And c) by the time I’d fricked around lighting it and it started giving out decent heat I could have often finished what I’d gone into the workshop to do in the first place. Tyres don’t light that quickly, even soaked in waste oil and petrol.

Quick heat is most important to me tbh. I don’t care how cold it gets when I’m not in there.

Any thoughts on propane heaters appreciated as well, I’m not tied to (red) diesel. We’re only looking at a few hours a week in the winter.

The heat will piss out the roof anyway Dan, and I’m not insulating that. Half my life is stored up in the trusses.

I’ve got one of those on top of the bench and it’s great for hands, but that’s about it!

I currently have a 2kw electric heater in my workshop/gym, which is basically a brick double garage with an up and over door. It takes the edge off, but I would like more heat on cold workshop days. Adding insulation isn’t really feasible because of the way everything is configured. I fancy getting a diesel heater instead, without spending a fortune. Any recommendations? And what’s the situation with venting? Thanks.

Client wanted it left as a monolith for bugs and beasties, which, in a fairly quiet part of woodland we thought a good call. The estate is surrounded by a security fence, though, so we left it at a height we thought wouldn’t hit the fence if it fell. I think our judgement was ok.

You’re too old to make it purely as a climber. That’s a simple fact. As others have said though, there’s a lot more to this game. You can climb, absolutely, but not 8 hours 5 days a week. If you manage your expectations you could be a real asset. Driving and machine skills count for a lot, as does the ability to be punctual, reliable, polite, and on a lot of jobs just purely get stuck in. Don’t start your own company though if you don’t know your oak from your elbow.
