  1. The Disco option is how a few of the lads back home are rolling.
  2. I hope you could get your mega-rake in for the clear up!
  3. I would give this a go first, no diagnostic tools required and I don’t think you have anything to lose. https://www.ifixit.com/Wiki/Husqvarna_Chainsaw_Autotune_Reset
  4. It’s been hammered before, and I would hammer it equally hard again, because the regrowth is really quick. (In consent parlance, ‘cut back to previous’. Probs best to avoid the word ‘hammer’.)
  5. I think the big builders are chewing because they can’t trouser as much profit as usual. This government, and Labour, are hell-bent on building 300,000 new homes every year though. I can see a slow-down, but not a crash.
  6. Defo not honey fungus Dave. @David Humphries will hopefully be along to confirm what you have.
  7. Slight derail, sorry Jamie, but who was that American fella who used to come on here, older chap, very knowledgable, possibly insane? Used to wear thigh length boots with about a million lace holes. He invented some spikes that were like a hypodermic needle that retracted? Steve will remember. I’ve been pretty lucky with my carbon spikes for about 20 years. A really good climber called Jon Turnbull was working at Honeys stand at the arb show one year, and persuaded me to buy them instead of the alloy Bashlins I’d taken to the till. Pretty much twice the price, but a decision I’ve never regretted. Swapped out the velcro bottom straps, which were quick but let me down on big climbs. Leather (ish?) and buckles bottoms now. Standard gaffs, tickled with a file very, very occasionally. Gaff out is a technique with spikes problem, not a spikes problem. Newton has long gaffs because he thinks they will help him get up the tree quicker, that’s how retarded he is.
  8. You’re in France Mick. I’ll remind you in June.
  9. 10k will be fine in Francs Mick.
  10. You might want to be sitting down with a glass of wine when you get it!
  11. I’ve had a Rab Baseline hoody for years and it’s been brilliant as a mid-layer. It’s ragged to bits now though, and I want to replace it before winter. Typically, the Baseline is discontinued. The Ascendor Summit seems to tick the right boxes, helmet compatible hood, thumb loops, chest pocket etc. Anyone wearing one who could give any feedback? Rab Mens Ascendor Summit Hoody Graphene WWW.TREKITT.CO.UK <span>The Ascendor Summit Hoody is built for alpine and mountain use. It's super comfy, super soft and...
  12. That is true, but the price of full ‘arb backs’ makes me wince. My setup cost less than £500 and has done me for years. Can’t brim it quite like you can with full barn doors etc., but that’s not really an issue, I’ve got about £10k spare to play with! Seen here demonstrating it’s outstanding off-road ability.
  13. What’s the plan with the back Mick?
  14. IF it were to tragically die at a young age, replace it with something more suitable yourself.
  15. It might well do if you’re on highly shrinkable clay. The soil will expand to the volume it would have been without the tree taking up the water. The point is, whether you remove the tree in one go, or in stages, the soil will still expand to the same volume, so the damage will end up being exactly the same. As others have said, it’s not really our call to make. To be on the safe side the insurers should get structural engineers involved. It’s mostly scaremongering anyway. We now seem to get months of drought followed by months of it pissing down. The soil will do it’s thing anyway, irrespective of any trees. Genuine cases of heave are pretty rare. Cases of badly built houses not so much….
